  • Sara2 UE Diary

    Hi all,

    I am looking for advice, I have so much debts I don’t know what to do. I have been paying them for years but I could not manage more than the minimum so I could never pay them off. Some of them very old, last month I have sent for SAR to see if there are charges I can claim, and Halifax one came with nearly £3000 charges over the years but the balance 2500. The agreement was also included, by reading the instructions in this website it could be unenforceable.

    I have few questions;
    can I still claim my charges back even though I have stopped paying it?? Would the charges go to pay the outstanding balance?

    What do I do now, do I pay token payments until I confirm the agreement?? I have now opened a new account and transferred my salary to it.

    The other problem I am facing, that most creditors know my work number, although I don’t need the phone for my work, as suppliers prefer to call me in my mobile, I found it embarrassing that they will call me. I answered one call, and I could not say much as I share my office, so I hanged up, luckily we don’t share work number but how do I make sure they don’t call me at work??

              It was 5000 loan initially with ppi, I asked to stop the ppi after a year. I was asked to sign a new agreement but no pppi rebate, and I want to claim ppi for the year. I think with ppi it was unenforceable but now could be good agreement. May be the ppi claim will pay this off?

                  None of these are going to be 100% effective if the scum have already got hold of your number, so changing is best. If it is a standard landline you could also think about getting a TrueCall machine, but as far as I know they don't work on lines which go through switchboards.

                  Don't worry about not being able to say too much to them, because you shouldn't be saying anything to them at all. I recommend the standard procedure for dealing with nuisance calls - just put the receiver at the side of the phone and say nothing. About a minute later, replace it.

                    I might pay this, as it is not huge but with all other debts I had I could not pay more than minimum. I have both ppi miss old claim and charges that I need to file after I get my SAR back.
