I had a good credit rating for years, did loads of stoozing and getting low balance transfers but in reality I was overspending by about £500 every month. This lasted throughout my 20's, I had (have) a good job but wasn't as well paid as the friends I was socialising with. This came to a head when my personal debt reached around £50K and the stoozing stopped. I entered into a DMP with Payplan in Feb 2009 and have not missed a payment to five creditors since. This includes an overdraft with Barclays, unsecured loan with NR and credit cards with MBNA, Halifax and M&S. I have a mortgage with Northern Rock too which is up to date. All of the creditors have moved the debts across to DCA's except Barclays. All creditors defaulted me around August 2009 (apart from N Rock who have an Arrangement to Pay marker ). There is no PPI, I don't believe any of the creditors have added penalty charges and interest has stopped. I have CCA'd the DCA's handling the Halifax and M&S debts and will do so with the Nortnern Rock DCA (once I have hopefully got a retrospective default which is currently arrangement to pay). MBNA has a charging order against my home so I will continue to pay that and Barclays too.
Interest has stopped

Your mortgage must be your priority. If the payments are up to date why have Northern Rock placed an ATP marker on your file? Did you get into arrears with your mortgage but have arranged to pay these off over a period of time to avoid possession proceedings?
Or are you referring to your unsecured loan with NR having an ATP? Was this a *Together* mortgage with part secured and part unsecured?Last edited by PlanB; 3 January 2014, 12:45. Reason: added reference to NR's Together mortage product

As long as you are paying Barclays they won't sell your account to a debt purchaser where you should find it's easier to settle the debt for a lower amount if ever you want to.

Re: Wiggle's UE Diary
So why are you paying them, what is the logic behind it - just stop paying them and let them default you and get it over with!! Pointless keeping it alive by paying into it, unless there's another reason for it?I'm the forum administrator and I look after the theme & features, our volunteers & users and also look after any complaints or Data Protection queries that pass through the forum or main website.
