I am starting a new thread with a case that I had hidden under the wood work with Vanquis. I thought I would ask Niddy before starting it and he has given me the thumbs up.

Present situation is that I am not been chased by Vanquis or any DCA at the minute and I am lying low at the moment.

My case with Vanquis is a bit similar to the one I have on going with HSBC.......got in to some genuine financial difficulties and offered to pay in installments but offers repeatedly refused by them. I complained to the FOS and then I stopped [must try and remember why and will post up reason later].

I thought fuckity fuckity what the hell is going on and then I stopped all communications as I was not getting anywhere and I rolled over put my head under the duvet and went back to sleep.

Vanquis have registered a default on my credit file which was to be expected. I did a CCA request and was sent an application form because I applied online and had to tick the box. Vanquis have admitted in writing that they do not have the hard copy of my agreement so sent me a few pages of terms & conditions and an application form.

They also issued me with a Default Notice which I believe is defective and will see what Niddy has to advise. PPI was also added to my account even though I did not request this. There are approx £200 worth of charges and I have yet to add the PPI payments up.

Even though the debt is not sky high but still is a pain in my side which I would like to try and sort out once and for all. Vanquis did offer to refund me charges of approx £40 or £50 which I did not accept as I wanted them to refund the PPI payments I had been making but they refused.

I sometimes wonder why things turn out the way they do. My conclusion is that creditors and banks should advise customers and put it in writing "SHOULD YOU EVER GET IN TO ANY FINANCIAL DIFFICULTY IN FUTURE DO NOT EXPECT US TO ACT SYMPATHETICALLY TOWARDS YOU AND BE ADVISED THAT WE WILL NEVER ACCEPT ANY LOWER PAYMENT ON YOU ACCOUNT"

I bet if they did write something along those lines on peoples agreements then no one would take out any type of card.

So, there you have it. Hopefully others & Niddy will be able to see if I should leave things as they are or poke Vanquis with a few questions

Also my account with Vanquis turned in to the World Cups football and was passed from DCA to DCA........and I had such a time trying to keep up with who owned. I believe that it passed through 5 DCA's.............I have all the letters and documents from them.

I had a letter from one stating that they did a search on my property and knew I was the owner and residing [dah, like I ever denied that I didn't]

One letter offering me a fantastic reduction of the debt,, ahhhh and so much other crap with it also.

Just to add the default notice is defective so we'll use that to your advantage.

I'll be back tmw and read properly.

              Hiya

when did you last have any contact with Vanquis or their DCA's....? Reason i'm asking, why rock the boat - if it's all quiet then leave it that way for now, and give yourself (and me) time to sort one of the other things first - this is bugger all in the grand scheme of things with an extremely low balance anyway so you should in fact ignore this anyway - any ignore anyone that writes, no judge will award a CO for the amount involved.....

I'd say let sleeping dogs lie......

                Re: Transformer999-V-Vanquis

Hi Niddy last I believe I had contact with Vanquis was in June/July 2009 and as you say why rock the boat.

Reality is that if they had accepted my payment proposal and taken off their charges and refunded the PPI they added then today my debt would only have been approx £70 or £80 pounds.............alas things are not as simple as I assumed they would be.

OK I have a Default registered but what can I do. In fact I did have a Vanquis card quite a few years ago and I ran that with no problems and difficulties and paid off the complete balance and closed the account. Vanquis did not agree to let me pay in lower payments when I done all I could to explain the problems I was facing.

My problems with HSBC & Vanquis started when I was hit with a sky high Gas & Electric Bill. In late 2008 these bills added to approx £1400.00 and it is only NOW that I have managed to bring them down to £100.

Thanks again Niddy and I agree let sleeping dogs well this sleeping dog lie for the moment.

Hiya, as agreed just leave things alone and see what develops. The fact they defaulted you means that in 6 years the entry will be gone - totally so it's not a bad thing.....

Just ignore yea? See what happens in time...
