    Niddy has kindly offered advice and suggested I start a diary on this one.

    It's an old MBNA account and it's been shuffled around various lowlifes ending up with this bunch. They've written a few times and I've sent a request for the original agreement.

    They sent a one pager photocopied from landscae to portrait making it hard to read but it appears to be genuine.

    When they sent the copy they asked for paymeny or financial details within 30 days. They must have set a reminder because exactly 30 days later, just after 8 am they're ringing my house phone and my mobile with automated announcements. Both phones have now been set to drop calls from the number as I'm not going to discuss this on the phone.

    The agreement was taken out in 2005, defaulted in 2009.

    Not a huge amount of money involved but having recently paid out a reasonable amount I haven't got the wherewithal to pay them off.

    Has anyone else had any dealings with them?

    Ta for any asisstance that you can give.

    Who owns your account? Is it still MBNA? Sorry to sound so stupid but I think Rockwells are only a DCA not a debt purchaser. I may be wrong.

    Have you sent any letter to Rockwells since you received their reply to your s.78 request over a month ago?

      Nope, Niddy said that there were no real terms and they weren't linked and advised me to sit tight and await their next missive. Judging by the enthusiasm on the phone calls I won't have to wait long...

        ...And they've now decided to follow up. Coincidentally it's a Friday!

        Today's letter says they're concerned it's unresolved. (Poor loves).

        If they don't hear from me or receieve token payment within 14 days the account may be passed to their specialist recovery agents who, on this occasion, are Fenton Cooper to assess further recovery options.

        However, all is not gloom and doom - they have extended a "SPECIAL OFFER - SETTLE AT A REDUCED AMOUNT" to me. It must be important because it's all in upper case.

        They hint at a 'significantly reduced amount' if I'd care to call them up and take advantage of this offer. Lucky, lucky me!

        So, apart from not calling them up, what should I do?

                              Have now got a letter (Notice of Recovery Action) for assessment and recovery action with instructions to: "Read carefully, follow the instructions and reply immediately." Cheeky buggers!

                              Just for clarity, do I send the letter to them or to Rockwells? (Even though they're presumably one and the same...)
