Re: daughters cc aplication
Addresses cannot affect your ability to get credit. From your post, I would suggest what is stopping her is the amount of previous history (credit accounts such as loans or cards) on her credit files.
If she intends to pay the full balnce each month, she could try Vanquis, and then try another company in say 9 or 10 months. I wouldnt recommend holding a balance on the card with these as their interest rates are sky high.Last edited by oscar; 24 October 2011, 08:14.I'm an official AAD Moderator and also a volunteer, here to help make the forum run smoothly. As has been suggested it may be her lack of a credit history that is an issue rather than adverse credit.
However without getting all preacher like on you...............
Why does your daughter want credit? Perhaps being declined is a blessing in disguise? Having not lived on credit now for almost 2 years I can honestly state that (mortgage aside - and don't get me started on the perceived 'benefits' of owning your own home in this modern Britain) I have found no reason for needing credit and (especially a credit card) at all.
Ooooer thats my MSE moment over

Re: daughters cc aplication
Although this shouldn't affect her at this stage, there is also the fact that it's not sensible to keep on applying if she's going to get turned down, as a lot of negative searches in a short space of time will affect her.
Would she in anyway show up as financially linked with you for any reason?

So basically, a credit search is linked to the person, yes..... but is only pinned down by the addresses they've lived at.
Hope I've explained that properly.....Remember the mantra:

Re: daughters cc aplication
There used to be a real problem with addresses at one time like a post code lottery if you bought another house or moved to another address. You could inherit a poor credit record from a previous occupant of the property. As far as I know that was rectified by a change in legislation and rules about 2001. We had moved in 2002 and had "inherited", we found, the problems of a previous occupier of this house which had been rented out and had been used for "special needs mother-child"fostering,---don't ask!
We put the matters in hand with the sol who conducted all the conveyancing and he told us that yes up until the previous year it had been quite possible for you to inherit these problems but things had now changed and it was not allowed. Hence the change occurred 2001 or there abouts.

Re: daughters cc aplication
Addresses cannot affect your credit P1 - the only way they would is like you say; via a link but you'd have had to have been in debt at that address as well. Credit is based on person - not dwelling.
However if you got in debt at address A then moved to address B withholding the bad debt at address A then not only would N Hunter & Symantics catch you out but the bad debt would then link to the new address, address B.
So assume you live with your kids and they apply for credit, anything of yours at any address would not be taken into account thus credit is always based on person not dwelling

There were a couple of phishing attempts made at address B, but nothing concrete was ever established..... so they didn't catch up with me, no.

No, a credit card will not help, it will hinder her if she keeps applying and gets rejected so it is already damaging her!
No more applications till she appears on Experian, chances are the loan she paid was done by a firm that use Equifax as her address may be on there.
All she needs to do is query it with Experian and they will add her again as the new ER comes out soon anyway / may have just came out (unsure exactly of dates)I'm the forum administrator and I look after the theme & features, our volunteers & users and also look after any complaints or Data Protection queries that pass through the forum or main website.
