Got letter today from Crapquest for a credit card which i think should now be statute barred. They want £4186 blah blah or take legal action. Got phone call also and i asked them when this debt was from as i have no knowledge of it. They told me that they have no details of thedebt....... just that i owe the money and have to pay.
I told them thats ludicrous, how can you chase me for a debt which you dont even know is mine ? The letter actually states they have BOUGHT the debt so surely must know when it is from. After pressing i was told the only info they have is that they bought the debt in May 2006.
They then told me that i need to contact original card issuer for a statement if i wanted to get a statement etc. I told them that there was no chance that i would be running around doing anything of the sort........ that didnt go down to well and they said that it could lead to further action if i ignored the debt blah blah.
What a bunch of :bert
Cant believe they think they have the right to ask for debts even though they have no details of the debt or even if it is actually owed. When i said this on the phone, they said that they deal with the original card issuer with many accounts and so can trust them. What a cheek lol, may as well as just called me a liar over the phone !
So, whats my next step ? Just ignore them or send them a statute barred letter ? I am 99.9% sure that its statute barred, and actually if i was 100% sure i would have a bit of fun with crapquest and give them a bit of a runaround first before finally finishing this off. How can i find out if it is 100% statute barred ? Original card was from B of S.
