  • JD Williams/ Reliable Collections

    Hello All,
Ive been reading through some posts but I'm still a bit confused. Here's my story. We have been on a DMP with Payplan for some 2years now I was under the impression that all was well, I havn't missed a payment, have been lucky with pay rises to increase my payment twice etc etc only 7 years to go!!! My wife says in passing that JD Williams are still writing and sending statements and are still charging admin and credit charges. When I checked this our original debt of £480 is now up to £820. I contacted Payplan and the reply was to write to JDW personally to ask them to freeze account etc or go down the route of an IVA. I thought this was a bit unhelpful but I cant complain really as Payplan have stopped the nightmares and stress we were going through 2years ago.
What I'd like to know is should I start in communicating with them requesting a copy of the orginal agreement that you havestated in posts via the template letters? Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Regards Sherb.

When the account was first taken out for one thing.

Others are more familiar with JDW agreements, so they can probably say more.

            I'll do my best,
Catalogue account, possibly opened on line not sure of the date, current balance with charges £820, but since paying through Payplan estimated balance £480. Have been paying regulary through payplan now £4.97 per month. Last full payment made over 2 years ago, I'm guessing the account is in default or arrears. We seem to get letter from Fashionworld. I hope this is a start for you.
            Regards
            Sherb

I think I will write to them asking them to freeze the charges etc saying that all other creditors have etc if they are uncooperative I'll ask for a copy of the original agreement, and see where that leads. I guess I'll be back sooner rather than later.

I would point out that just because an account is UE, it doesn't mean that you have to stop paying it. Through your DMP or otherwise.

However, if it was UE then that might encourage them to stop interest/charges, or offload the account onto a collector who would do so.

                      Sounds like a reasonable plan.

JDW Group will not do it - they rarely do unless advised to under legislation, i.e. disabled/financial hardship etc.....

Sorry just trying to save some time, they will refuse - as per other threads, they simply don't listen and ignore almost anything you say - all the while making more outrageous demands for repayment....

Good luck - but you are wasting your time unless you pull off the fluke of the century.

I suggest you combine the two, use the CCA request template letter from here, and edit to add your request to freeze charges.

Niddy is right though, at least this way you'll have given them a chance......
