  • My recent results

    Hi folks

I had more blood work done yesterday (fastings) due to some abnormalites last Nov).
As some of you know I was prescribed statins 3 months ago, I was told to perservere with cramp pains which did get milder in the end.
This was prescribed for cholesterol reading of 6.1 at the last test in Nov 2012.

And my kidney function in Nov 2012 was just that of 50GFR (that is classed as stage 3 kidney disease) although not actually -officially diagnosed as yet.

Anyway, I rang my surgery for the results today, only to be told that my GP had tried ringing me several times, my answer machine playing up again, so luckily I did ring myself and was told by the secretary there was a message left for me to let me know to come off the one lot of blood pressure tabs called Perindropril, and that I MUST go to see her first thing in the morning. (The secretary said she didnt know why) but it could just be to discuss the results and to explain why they want me to come off that tablet. (These tabs are supposed to protect the kidneys) despite the fact they were to treat my BP.

I asked the results of the cholesterol and was told it was very good and she gave me an overall number of 4.7, so yes I am very happy with that.

And kidney functioning has risen by one from 50gfr to 51 GFR which is better than decreasing, although not a lot of difference and the secretary said, the doic has put that down to being stable and just to keep monitoring.

I am so worried and baffled on why they insisted I have to go to see my doc in the morning and am also anxious on why they taken me off that particular tablet.

Maybe they want to take me off statins because of the good outcome, but goodness knows.

I shall let you know tomorrow when I get back how I get on.

    From a mega worried Dizzy

Don't worry Di. Your results seem to be improving so hopefully good news. If your cholesterol is that low, the risk from BP may be reduced.

Not so much that PF but they seem to have a buy one get one free offer at GP's these days.

Chin up, just another couple of pills and they do work.

Oh yes, I didnt think of that, and I suppose the gp will want to discuss these matters to me face to face.

            Good luck for today honey
These doctors don't think sometimes, they come out with things not realising how literally they can be taken, and frighten people to death!
I'm sure this will probably just be some precautionary jiggling of meds.
What's your blood pressure averaging? My OH has just started having problems.

Let us know how you get on xx

              Thank you all.

Oh sorry to hear your hubby's having problems, hope they get to the bottom of things Elsa, good luck.

Yes your so right Elsa, I have been a right bag of nerves.

Anyway, I attended my appointment this morning and my doc said the reason they want me to stop on that tab is because my potassium levels were sort of high, so they taken yet more bloods today (they had a job to draw it) as they were only done 2 days ago as well, and I should be having the result tomorrow afternoon.
If all is well, they will be putting that tab back on the repeat script, as they do also protect the kidneys.

She is also referring me to a nephrologist, (for the kidneys) but the list is that long, it can take as long as November, but as mine is classed as stage 3a kidney disease (although not officially diagnosed yet) they still have to take these routes to get to the bottom of what is going on.

Right even through the cholesterol reading was lower at the overall number of 4.7 (i forgetten the name that is included within the cholesterol test) but she said its still not perfect, so I told her that I still get leg pain, and she now changed me to another statin called pravastatin and to keep me on the 40mg strength. She said its important to keep taking one a night, in case of a blockage in arteries.

Anyone any diet tips to help potassium?
I am not allowed banana's, yet i dont eat or like them anyway, and no more chocolate for me for a while either.

All other tests, blood count, glucose are fine.

                Hi honey,
At least it sounds as though they are on the ball. I do hope they get you sorted out.

                    Goodish news Di

At least the results were not as bad as you feared.

I do think results on kidneys vary from day to day. I was referred to a Kidney specialist last year due to protein levels. after 6 months without any treatment, they started to go down.

I am sure all the tablets they push at us cause other problems as well.

                      Re: My recent results

                      Again thank you xx

As you know I posted up yesterday that they taken my bloods again "yesterday"(Renal - full profile) twice in one week, and the concern yesterday was the potassium levels were slightly elavated.

They told me to ring today for the results, I did so but the Dr's were very busy, but then I received a phone call ten mins after I rang from reception to tell me, the results were "much better" today. She had a word with my Dr and the Dr told her to call me back to let me know.

I was not given the direct details of what was what of the renal results, as I have not spoken to the Dr, as the message was just passed on to me.
So I as I have an appointment with my Dr's surgery nurse next Monday, I expect my Dr will get her to explain the results to me and to say what is what.

At least to have that news to say results were much better today that is something
