  • marlin /barclaycard letter

I had a letter in the post from Marlin and Barclaycard this morning re a Barclaycard account, saying that Marlin had been assigned all the rights etc.

I had a look on my credit card report and couldn't find anything that matched the account no on the letter, but when I checked the amount it was there under a different account no.

I think it must have been a egg card originally and when Barclays took them over they must have assigned a Barclaycard no. to it.

If it is that account I thought I had put it to bed a couple of years ago with ARC/Trevor Munn, they couldn't provide an agreement etc.

So my question is what do people think the best way of killing it is????

sounds like Marlin are going after everybody then, so as I CCA'ed egg years ago and didn't really get much I just want to know what to send the muppets before they start to try and get heavy!!!!

If it was me, I would send the sold while in dispute letter.

How long ago is it since you last had a letter from anyone?

I last heard about this account just over 2 years ago, I was wondering if to send them a prove it letter as I have never been informed that I have a Barclaycard account in that no. The card was defaulted before Barclaycard brought the egg accounts!!!

            Hi mgfboy,

I've had one too today and don't recognise the card number they are quoting!

But after reading your post I have just re-read the letter as I hadn't realised they had quoted a balance and it confirms that this is Egg too.

I'll dig out my file and see when I last heard from anyone but I know it's been a while!

                  Re: marlin /barclaycard letter

Thoght I would send them this , didn't think it was worth sticking the boot in stright away.

Also what are peoples thoughts on faxing letters to the buggers????

You have contacted me regarding the account with the above reference number, which you claim is owed by myself. I have no knowledge of any such debt being owed to Barclaycard. I have checked my records and can find no evidence of me ever holding a Barclaycard in that number
I would ask that no further contact be made concerning the above account unless you can provide evidence as to my liability (the letter from Barclaycard enclosed with your letter does not suffice as I have no knowledge of the account no.) for the debt in question and await your written confirmation that this matter is now closed.
Also I withdraw my consent (under s.10 of the DPA) for you to process my personal data with respect to any of my personal or work telephone numbers registered with you or stored on your systems/records.

                    Re: marlin /barclaycard letter

I am just wondering if a bit of slowing down may be good with this.

                    My thinking could be crap.

There has obviously been a mass assignment. Forums are hot hot hot.

Many with no contact at all for years and this letter comes out the blue.

I have now seen an instance where APEX and Barclaycard have individually sent out a recon. BC's was from 2001 This has been on Egg accounts long dormant.

This was not in response to a CCA request.

What has happened on the forums is lots of people firing off emails and letters.

Whats that done? Yep given them live contacts on very old debts.

Am just wondering until someone with a better hang of it comes along if to not reply is better than to reply?

                    Just my couple of pennies.

                      Re: marlin /barclaycard letter

I know what your saying, but they will start ringing in the next day or so and I really can't be arsed to deal with it so, my thoughts where respond , so at a later date I can't be accused of ignoring the matter and get my number removed at the same time.

That's my plan Ken (yes I've had one too!).
Going to sit tight and save the CCA request until they start turning nasty. Mind you, knowing them it might not take long.

As I said in the other thread, I had a letter from both of them so I think I should respond.

In my experiance when you have a new DCA starting on a case best to shut them down at once.
