  • My DMP road to happy days.

    Hello All

I've wandered over from MSE to keep a diary of my DMP and to try to keep myself on the straight and narrow

So far my creditors have received their first payment and I have CCA'd the two catalogues I owe money to.

One has replied to say they can't locate a signed copy of my agreement and bo reply as yet from the other. They are both part of the same group so, and they cashed my cheque for a pound so they've got another couple of days left.

I did ask on MSE about the implications of Additions not having a copy of my agreement and was told that the CCCS would pay them regardless which I'm not overly joyed at since about 1/3 of the outstanding amount is the late fees they added on.

I'm not sure I can do a F&F settlement whilst with CCCS either so I feel as though I've wasted my time a bit sending off for the CCA's to be honest.

Oh well, i will just have to see what happens. Feeling a bit deflated now really.

Thanks for the welcome and the reply.

Does this mean that I can ask CCCS to stop paying for this account if it is UE? -This one was taken out in 2002. I will look into this possibility.

I also have a confession to make ;Red, I have now found the letter from my other catalogue GUS and they have sent me a signed copy of my credit agreement so fair enough. **I found it behind the dog's basket** She likes to open our letters ;LOL

Re: My DMP road to happy days.

      Thanks again Andy.

I was hoping to use the no CCA as a bargaining chip really as I've had a lot of late payment charges added to the account.

I will wander over to the EU section later. I did just have a quick look but I can't concentate atm - just got back from the dreaded school shoes shopping!

      I seriously need to recover

Re: My DMP road to happy days.

The catalogues you mention is littlewoods group. I know that cos most customers never got an agreement lol

Have you been dealing with their dca (credit account mgt or Phoenix) or sdg directly?

I'll reply properly in morning - early. On phone so hard to quote. Point is I'll get this wiped totally for you.

Dmp's don't allow u to stop payments to some creditors. You have to cancel the dmp. Deal with ue then start again - with them omitted

        I reply in morning Nite.

          Thanks for your reply NID

I'm dealing with SDG directly. It sounds a bit scary having to cancel my DMP though, what do I do with my other creditors?

Continue to pay them the same amounts I expect eh?

Look forward to your advice - thanks.

Re: My DMP road to happy days.

            Hiya

basically that's the way to do it - as your credit file will already be shot to pieces, you need to formally declare the two SDG accounts unenforceable and walk away from them totally.... however you cannot just select who the dmp pays money to - they must apply equal proportion of debt, so they will need you to cancel that dmp and usually you take a new one out after all the UE stuff is sorted, have you looked at trying for UE across all yourt debts? You may find your dmp is more manageable - also, lets assume you get away with the 2 SDG accounts - the funds that you should be allocating these will go towards any other debts.....

            Make sense now?

So really it is up to you whether you continue on dmp and pay or try UE in which case you'd obviously be slightly better off and/or be able to clear any enforceable debts quicker..... ;-)

Re: My DMP road to happy days.

              Thanks Niddy.

I will have think since the two cats are being paid at a fiver each per month so it wouldn't make that much difference and is it worth disrupting my DMP I am wondering.

Anyway apart from this I have an offer from Welcome to refund PPI of about £830, that's not the total I've paid so far (£1200) but I've got arrears so I will probably accept and keep the money to buy a new car in about 14 months time.

I've got a little less than 4 years left on the HP of my current car (originally taken over 5 years) but can do a VT after I've paid 1/2 which is what I want to do. By doing this I will free up an extra £220 per month to throw at my debts. Happy days!

My current debt free date is June 2019 so I'm hoping to slash at least two years off of this.

The latest thing I'm trying is the envelope method - after paying my monthly bills by DD this I've started to seperate my wages into different money bags each labelled like this:

              £80 Diesel
              £15 Car Tax
              £20 MOT/servicing
              £134 Childcare
              £150 Food
              £6 School trips
              £15 Emergency fund
              £20 Clothing

I have only been able to put money into the diesel and food bags this month as the school uniform has cleared me out, but I am hoping to get into the habit of putting money away each month.

I know I could put the money into a savings account but I would get muddled up if I lumped it all together as I've tried this before and failed.

I can only give it a go can't I? If it doesn't suit then I'll have to think of something else.

Another tip I'm trying is avoiding taking money to work unless I really need to. We have a staff shop at work and it's all too easy to fall into the trap of buying crisps and cakes and a one off purchase becomes a habit very quickly. Don't get me wrong, I work for a high street bakers and take away specialist and we get staff discount, but it's still money I don't need to be spending.

It's also major birthdays for a lot of my work mates this year - I don't want to be mean but I think giving a couple of pounds to the collection is enough to be parting with.

And finally, Christmas is just around the corner - groan - I've already bought the main presents for my children so I just need stocking fillers. I hate shopping as well, it's such a boring pastime.

Well that's me and my plans, let's see how long I can stick to them

Re: My DMP road to happy days.

                Hi Mrs A

Well done and thanks for your comment on my thread. I had been a lurker but didn't reply as you did have things under control with some good advice.

I have been doing a challenge called the No Spend Day - so for example last month I set my target at 10 and ended up having 12 days of no spending. On about the second month I actually found I had £70 left - which otherwise would have been frittered away on nothing.

It is amazing that when you put your mind to something you can save.

On the lifestyle part of the forum there will be lots of people posting money saving tips so might be worth a check out.

Good luck and as I said if you need to ask me anything about my little journey ask away

Re: My DMP road to happy days.

                  Thanks Andy and Sunny. ;Hi

I am trying my very best to be organised. I usually leave things to the last minute and then get into a right old flap lol.

Well today the second payment of my DMP went to CCCS by direct debit - so that's one less worry. My creditors will have the money by the 25th so I've a while to see the balances go down.

I have also received papers from my bank to reclaim the PPI back from a loan I paid off last year. I need to have a good read as they seem to be a little different from the last OFT questionnaire I completed for Welcome. They are asking their own questions.

No matter, they won't put me off as I've a few different reasons to put on the form. I might post this on the PPI reclaiming board actually. You never know I might be able to help someone else eh?

Sunny I will be keeping an eye on your DMP thread as well, mainly because I'm nosey ;LOL

Re: My DMP road to happy days.

                      Just a quickie update.

As I said previously I've had a questionnaire from the bank to reclaim the PPI from a loan I had. I have now completed the forms and will send them off tomorrow.

I am hoping for a reasonable outcome - but you never can tell.

I also have enough money left in the bank to cover the final bills I have yet to pay out of the wages I have left for this month, BUT I have money for diesel, money for school trips, money for car tax, money for car servicing/MOT, and some money towards nursery fees put by. I am actually finding that because this money isn't in my bank account I don't really think about it. I am also hoping that I will have a little money left over from the diesel money - I will have to stop DH from using my car I think lol. The trouble is I've got the 'nice' car and it's faster than his, it also likes to run at a faster speed for some reason the fuel economy gets better at higher speeds - well so DH tells me ;Hmm

With regards having to cancel DMP to go down UE route with one of your creditors.
Can't you just log on to your DMP account, adjust the amount owed to the creditor
you want to claim UE on to £0 then you can try for UE.
The CCCS will just not pay them the next time and adjust your payments to the other
                          creditors accordingly.
                          I think!!!!!
