Credit Reference file clean up Post Bankruptcy
It's important to clean up your credit files after BR, this helps to stop your debt being sold to DCA's (some still do buy old debts as a job lot, so do be aware of this). A clean file will start to improve your credit rating, but bear in mind some companies ignore the credit files and use their own credit scoring system.
After AD or ED wait two/three months and then begin your clean up.
Your CRFs will automatically clean after 6 years from default/settlement date, so you will have a clean file from then on.
You will find companies report to one of the CRAs ( Credit Reference Agencies ) rather than all three, that's why it's suggested that you get your credit files from all three of the CRAs to see what's held on there.
To access your credit report from any of the main 3 agencies please use the links below or consider using our in-house guide which has direct links to statutory online/offline reports as well as postage ones with the relevant links and addresses for contacting the respective agency direct.
