I called Santander today as I had an old loan with Cahoot, I just asked if i had taken PPI with that loan, they told me no I hadn't, there wouldn't be any chance that they told me a fibber (god forbid a bank lying to customers) would there? I can send them a SAR but to save a tenner I thought I would ask first, because surely if I SAR them now my request would have been recorded, any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Hiya Vos

    Hmmm Santander.
They told me they could not track down the details of the account, until I sent a SAR to their data protection unit it arrived in the post.
However, I already knew there was PPI, as I did already have some information even before sending a SAR, but they knocked us back because they said they could not track down the info on the account because of long ago it was.
Strange how SAR stuff turned up later lol.

How long ago did you take out the loan on this one?

Hi Di, well this ran until about 2007, the bloke said they had all the details but could not see PPI anywhere on the loan, I was just wondering that's all.

        Vossy.

Yesterday we got a letter back from Satans Bank denying everything about an account we had with them. They said they could not trace us

This is in response to a SAR sent in July.

Funny that as I got bored with waiting and wrote to Ana Botin Santander CEO.

I am in posession of a SAR for my account via the CEO office.

So in answer to would a bank lie to your absolutely. Is it worth a SAR and a tenner your call.

Yeah your right ken, I wouldn't trust a bank one jot, I just thought that if they had lied and I discovered through a SAR they had then obviously I would go to the regulator - oh shite, they wouldn't do anything anyway - SAR on it's way.

          Cheers all

            Re: Santander (Cahoot)

These clowns were the hardest to get anything out of.

The SAR proved I had no PPI but it also showed up I had a Mayhew Credit Card

Stupidly I wrote to a couple of places chasing it but should have gone to the top after 40 days.

I have spent a few quid on these things but you never know what will happen.

I got a Barcraps SAR. No PPI seemed a waste of money. But last week a firm got fined for selling CCP. Now guess whats on my Barcraps account. Yep you guessed it CCP.

They have been at it for years and now bet they have industrial shredders working day and night destroying the evidence.

Once its gone its gone. Reading about it seems an awful lot of dead eggs are missing info for PPI reclaims along with everything else about the account.

Thats this Canada square getting shut of its liabilities.

Yeah I agree, they probably have people shredding like mad and trying to wipe old data like nobodies business, they all say they want to pay it back and put it right but do they bollox!

If I remember right (Di will correct me if I'm wrong) you could just send a request for the Consumer Credit Agreement (CCA) which only costs £1

The CCA will have details on it on whether you had PPI on the loan

That is for sure another option.

I do remember a thread on here think it was either helmsman or tech clerk who had a CCA which niddy said was EN but then it came out they had PPI on statements which then made the CCA UE. But it wasnt shown on the CCA or had been forgot about on purpose.

Think alot of this revolves on how much we trust them anymore.

How can you write to me 3 days ago saying they have no knowledge of me and this is in response to a letter I sent in July. It was a full SAR request so is a lawful request they have to comply with.

In the meantime I have complained via the CEO's office and got a full SAR back.

So I now have a full SAR complied with in October after 2 weeks at the CEO office but from the underling a bare faced lie in writing. And this arrives some 5 weeks after the SAR did.

But as you say the CCA is defo another option.

                          Re: Santander (Cahoot)

                          Good one.

Makes you wonder if you have any proof of the bare faced lie that started this thread (Sar, your own recording, letter) if a choice letter to Ana Botty (Botin) CEO Santander complaining about her staff lying to you.

And if she didnt feel this was worthy of compensation above and beyond the PPiI redress you have just won how about you offer to take it to FOS, FSA, OFT, MP, Press and anyone else you can think of.

Its high time these banks started to be held to account for the lying deceitful culture that is endemic within them.

A stamp and a letter might get you a few pounds more if you have that first evidence.

I say this as Santander was by far the worst one to deal with and I didnt even have any PPI on the account.

I would but as it was a telephone call that I didn't record I can't prove what was said to me, needless to say I will see what the offer comes out at and then see where I go from there.

Yeah thats what I sorta read into your first post.

It was shocking all the same what they did at the start.
