  • PPI on a loan taken to consolidate...

    Hi,

I'm filling out some forms to send off to loans companies for the PPI thing.

I'm doing one for a halifax loan I had in 2006. It asks what the loan was for and part of the reason was to pay off other debts. THing is I can't remember what those debts were. I have no paperwork for anything beyond 2009!

Is it OK to just leave it blank even after ticking the 'consolidation' option?

While I'm on. Can you also claim PPI back on mortgages?

You can leave anything blank you do not understand, only complete the relevant info. I will PM Di30 for you, to come check things - sit tight and don't rush into anything yet.

                    Hi there

A Credit report will give you a list of lenders where also debt was involved, call Experian or Equifax to check if any of them go back to about 10 years, cannot recall on which one will go back that far if there was debts, although it is mainly 6 years.
A credit report will cost £2.

However a Subject Access Request (SAR) may also be of some help if you've not done this yet.
Try a credit report first. Google in one of those credit organisations above which will give you some details of what credit reports should include.

However, you can try online as well in regards of a credit search register and some will allow 30 days free, read the terms and conds first as they will cost after 30 days to what I know of.
It should help to find out the lenders where debt was involved.

There should be a part on the form where it states "Can't remember" that will be fine, otherwise you can write this in yourself, although if you have an idea of the year that will be ok too, so you not to worry about the accurate full date.

                        Hi

Yes you can, and in the same way as you do with loan ppi.

                          Thanks, Di30.

I've got both the equifax and experian reports on the go. Both read the same and no further back than 2004. I think I'll just have to go with the can't remember option though I'll go on a hunt for the Credit card ppi details, see what I can dig up.

                            You are welcome.

A Subject access request (SAR) maybe a good idea if you have little paperwork, as explained on pm to you.

Can one of you kind folks post up the relevent SAR here please?

                            Thank you.
