    Thanks

I can't recall the thread, although believe someone posted about just starting working for a high street bank with some blemishes to their credit rating. Anything they plan on doing as a condition of your employment should be in any offer mate. Good luck!
When Gold isn't enough, there is SA Gold! New to the forum and find the UE route a bit scary? Take a look at my diary here and judge for yourself. I am now saving the money each month that was making little difference to the balance and not a bit of difference to my credit file as a result of finding AAD.

You're looking for Kilasuit - he got a job with Barclays quite recently. Post here --> Kilasuits Diary (debt free and life improvements) - Page 7 - allaboutFORUMS

However that was an apprentice - most front line jobs are credit searched.

NID - Thanks, do you think that's true for contractors too?

Yes they will still search you, ask Oscar - I think he knows about this - I'll refer him here to explain...

              Re: working in FS

              Hi,

Very much depends on the bank unfortunately. For instance, where I work now, contractors are fine to have a stuffed up Credit File - I have including defaults. Permanent staff however is a different story. I am aware of one person who worked there 6 months contractor, gained a Perm role, and was escorted off site in the first week.

M&S Money however EVERYONE has to have a virtually unblemished credit file - I think you can have three or so missed payments (and they search 6 years) - providing they are not too recent.

MBNA is another one that demands an almost perfet credit file.

Some high street banks can be harsh - Santander spring to mind (although this was a direct application)

Billions, if it's owed to the taxpayer.

That might depend on what is contracting and if it might expand in warmer weather.

                    Re: working in FS

Thinking further, I suppose it would also depend on which credit file they search if only one.

Also, not all places report to all three CRAs, and then some debts dont appear at all - one of mine didnt till I defaulted (that judge in McGuffick saw to that - twat)

Thats no problem DF - thanks.

The company you have mentioned to me, so far as high street banking go, can be strict. I am not too sure about their other areas.

I am also unsure of their stance on your method of employment - direct or Agency etc - as I said, with some (M&S, MBNA) it makes no odds - it seems to with other banks, and they will employ you as agency, contractor - go figure

The company you mention I know will also search both the main agencies.

Without having worked with them, although I did apply, i couldnt say for definite - my aplication didnt get as far as the credit check

                          Re: working in FS

                          that's very useful to know

just one final question do we know what they will deem success/failure?

so for example if I have defaults but everyone of them now has a zero balance (it doesn't - I said IF) would they say that shows I am no longer in debt and as such I am allowed in, or would they say inability to maintain control of finances makes me a bad risk and leave me out...?

                          Thanks

                            Re: working in FS

Again, very much depends on the company. I know some accept fully paid defaults - but they have to be just that. I am aware of ONE other (there may be more) that still see the default as a bad thing, paid or not.

Its a bit shit really that companies can judge your ability to do a job on the basis that you may have previously had financial difficulties (ironically in most cases BECAUSE you didnt have a job)
