  • Marlin Owners?

Just for interest and so I don't post on the Help Thread Niddy started to other day.

I have been digging around Marlins History.
Marlin are owned by Black Tip, Black Tip are owned by Yorkshire Investments, Yorkshire Investments are owned by Duke Street, Duke Street is now owned by UKWM or UK Wealth Management.

The directors list reads like a list of an exclusive private members club.

It reads like a who's Who of the Banking Industry.

None of the companies appear to have more than 1/2M in the bank, but some of the websites state that they manage 1.2 Bn of clients money.

Marlin are at the coal face of a money making industry. While we are trying to bring them to task for their doubtful tactics and loose interpretation of consumer law.

Maybe Customs and Excise should be looking at how much Tax they actually pay.

Cameron keeps banging on about doubtful tax schemes, but what about when a company has more shells than a Russian Doll.

Just trying to give food for thought.

    Regards, Handy

Wow Niddy Looks like I'm going to be up all night reading.
Good old Cloggy, I always like the different angle he approaches things from.

Regarding my post about HRMC then it's never likely to happen, I have just watched the C4 link Pompey Posted. Essential Viewing, look about 16 minutes in about APEX.

Clarity Eh? looks as clear as mud to me.

These lot are as slippery as as a seal covered in oil, Cameron bangs on about tax avoidance for others but strangely not his inner circle including his father. Most are involved in the finance industry somewhere and no doubt have all their business conducted in the Cayman Islands or similar and the laws for finance were drawn up by just these people to be as loose as they need them but generally always in their favour, thank god that through places like this the normal people are getting to challenge those exact laws which are turning out to be not so clever after all.

Looking at what Cloggy turned up how the feck would anyone expect to get a useful SAR from these people, over the last few day's I have seen dozens of post from around the Consumer Forums where all a SAR produced was the same fuzzy reconstituted rubbish.

In order to get anything useful you would have to send one to every one on the list.

Mind you that's not a bad idea if anyone's up for it. I will even finance the cost, just don't let on to the missus. Lets see if they trip themselves up. I wonder what the ICO could make of it?

            Re: Marlin Owners?

Hi all. I am posting here because I don't want to cloud the other threads.

Could I ask a favour. Google Linkdin Litigator Mortimer Clarke.

See what you find. Then check the names of the litigators against the Bar Standards records and see if most results come back negative.

Now these people do exist. Some have moved on others well who knows.

I never take anything at face value, don't jump to conclusions and I'm better at digging the garden than digging up useful info.

But something I have seen or heard is nagging at the back of my brain.

BTW I wonder what Fani Gamon is doing now?

LinkedIn isn't accurate matey. Only registered solicitors are of interest however we're after consumer complaints not so much after their bosses

              Thanks mate.

Hi all, Niddy I am posting here because I believe it could be relevant.

                  Ever heard of M111 ltd.

LINKMoneySavingExpert.com Forums - View Single Post - Yorkshire Bank assignment to ME111 Ltd

LINK Marlin yorkshire bank please help

Yes it's our old mates again under a different guise.

I received a judgement against me for non payment of my Yorkshire/Clydesdale Bank loan. I was never given details

of the date of the hearing and was not given copies of the evidence the Bank submitted to the Court, but this is

another story. Yorkshire Bank obtained the judgement by default.

As i couldn't pay the full amount I came to an arrangement with the Court to pay the Bank a monthly amount. I have

just heard that the Bank have assigned the debt to ME111 Ltd and they have appointed Marlin Financial Services Ltd

to manage the debt. Marlin have also offered me the option of settling the debt at an 'advantageous figure',
                  Here are the company details.
                  ME III LIMITED

The Charges / Debentures are interesting

Duke Street or YWM are mentioned but although they claim ownership of Marlin (which part yet I'm not sure they are only majority share holders.

I have only seem M111 Ltd mentioned a couple of times but the cases seem quite current?

                  Regards, Handy

Back to dig some more (this is fascinating).

It took a few minutes to get it on to Chrome, but that was my fault.

                              It ran flawlessly without buffering.

Well done Niddy. Now if we all paste the link on our FB profile as well asking others to pass on. Well we can hope we get the word further afield.

From an article I found recently.
Main shareholders: Duke Street (58%), management (42%)

Specialising in pricing bad consumer debt, Marlin Financial Group purchases it and then recovers as much of the debt as possible from the defaulted borrowers. In 2006, founder and group chief executive Martin Dunphy led a buyout from the Sussex firm’s American owner and, in 2010, Duke Street bought a 58% stake for an undisclosed sum. The company has benefited from people wanting to improve their credit rating and pay off their debts during the recession. Marlin’s profits have risen 93% a year, from £2.8m in 2008 to £10.5m in 2010, and the business has some of the highest margins of the league table.
No wonder judging by the way they operate. FOS, another quango organisation bought and paid for by the companies they are supposed to police.
