  • Anyone any experience with Very/Additions/Littlewoods?

Had a couple of accounts with Very and Additions. Now they are both called Very.

Has anyone managed to get anywhere asking for lower payments, interest freeze etc?

One of them is just over £200 and other is over £600.

They will be enforceable as they are only a few years old. So cant go down that route.

Littlewoods are a real pain at the best of times, I was going away for 2 weeks and I have an agent account which is paid on time every month. The payment was due whilst I was away and people wouldnt have been able to pay into their accounts for me to send to them before I go. They basically said too bad and will charge me a late fee.

Any suggestions to the best way to deal with them?

At moment I am ignoring letters and calls from my credit card issuers as seen on my diary. But I fear ignoring these will just make them keep charging me until I hit the credit limit on the account.

I bet they ain't enforceable you know.... Some SDG (shop direct) agreements issued yesterday are unenforceable!

But for the small amounts involved you be best to try and just come to some agreement.

If there's been a name change, my bet is they wouldn't be able to find your original CCA. My wife had this a while back and all she got was the original Lilltewoods CCA and a blank copy of a Shop Direct one - useless!

        Hi BlueArmy

SDG follow a rather strict collections process which is difficult to derail, but saying that knowing how they work you can decide what approach to take.

Its vey rare to get them to agree to refund charges, though depends on circumstances.

They also will not accept any payment offer lower than the one they stipulate to you, even if you can demonstrate beyond all doubt its more than you can afford (breach of OFT guidelines but you will find they don't care about that).

They will eventually pass you off to their in-house DCA NDR money who will send you a series of progressingly threatening letters (door step collection blah blah).

You may then get a series of 'offers' where they offer you 30%, 10% anad then 0% APR if you replay balances over 3 years.

They will then eventually default you (if no payment made for 6 months) and flog the account on to either Lowells or Capquest, who will then, usually, accept an offer of payment.

Personally I think the most important thing with this lot is to keep writing to them (send recorded delivery and keep proof of postage) with your payment offer, and, as they will keep ignoring you, will have evidence of them being unreasonable and being in breach of OFT guidelines.

As Niddy has mentioned you also have the UE route to potentially look at, but due to the 'small' (everythings relative!) amounts you have to weigh up the risk.

My wife negotiated an F&F with them of around 35% after being defaulted and returned to them, on the basis that it was otherwise unenforceable.

F&F's are extremely complicated though, so be careful if you decide to go this route.
