Hi all, just had a quick look on my file today. I knew I had a default for an Argos card cause I have been in DM plan with Payplan for 4 years. The first late payment was back in April 2009 but they didn't default me till Nov 2011. They marked it as DM 2 payments missed for 7 months then went back to 1 month missed (for 2 months) then 2 months (for 2 months) and so on till marked as DM 5 payments missed for 15 months. Then added the default. Is there a letter I can send them to back date the default notice? Just to add I don't even remember them sending me a default notice in 2011 or ever.

should be defaulted within 6 months, but DMPs can be a bit tricky. What was the payment amount in relation to the minimum?

Did the payment reduce just before they defaulted you?

when did you last pay?

It was marked as Debt management and arrangement to pay and the payments even went up before they decided to default me. I would understand if they did it back in 2009 and I need to try and get them to back date it to then (or at least within 6 months). The current balance is something like £400 which I now can afford to pay off but don't see the point if I still have 4 year till it drops of my file.

Just checked Payplan and it went from Argos to Moorcroft in November 2011 so take it that's when they added the default

Doesn't look fair to me.

The ARs are odd. Don't even match the payment changes.

You could complain to try and get the date moved. Is it your only default/last on file?

No this isn't my only default but the others come off in 1-2 years. I was wondering if there was some form of letter out there that I can use. Is it best to complain to the CRAs or Argos?

Just write and tell them you wish to complain the the default should have been issued within 6 months of DMP.

Complain to Argos, then FOS if Argos refuse to budge.
