  • egg & cabot default on equifax

    Hi peeps,
I may well possibly be be barking up the wrong tree (desperation set in a while ago!), but on my equifax report I have got a default registered with cabot on 01/03/09. This default is for the same account bought off egg who also registered a default but show the date as 10/03/09.
    My querries are;
    a) should the dates not be exactly the same as they are both for the same account?
    b) should there not be just one default showing anyway as it could look to creditors that there are two separate defaults with no information linking the two accounts?
    Thank you all in anticipation.
    JC.

Yes the dates should be the same and yes there should be only one default but based on the overall picture, it won't affect you - certainly not for the sake of a week apart (i.e. one default will affect you the same as 10 will).....

You could appeal it to the CRA's and have one removed but is it worth the hassle? Not in my opinion, certainly not right now - leave sleeping dogs and all that (for now)....

    Hope that makes sense?

      Hi Niddy,
Yes I understand, all makes sense. I think I was just hoping that I could find something wrong with ALL the defaults I've got & so get them cleared. If only!
Slightly changing the subject, if I start another thread, would you mind having a look at my Lloyds credit card default notice (from 2010) to see if it is correct please, & if not what I can do about it?
      Thanks loads,
      JC.

Why are you worried/bothered about defaults?

        Forget them

They'll stay for 6yrs, McGuffick v RBS put paid to all previous tales of default removal unfortunately.

Sure start a thread regards Lloyds, if it links to another related thread of yours (ie a diary) we'll merge the threads

The defaults aren"t affecting me too much at the moment, but I was hoping to get a new & joint mortgage before the Lloyds one comes off. I was kind of hoping that I could bargain with a f&f settlement in place for the default removal, or do stand little to no chance of that?

100% no chance as they will simply say no in line with McGuffick and an offer of settlement in their view will suggest you admit to owing it thus they may try and enforce as they'll see that as a sign of weakness.....

Sorry, but you've more chance of winning the lotto than getting a creditor lender to remove a default, a dca may well do, not the lender.

sorry - it's just a nightmare right now after that judgment......

However wait till nearer the time and see what happens, no harm in applying - just speak to a mortgage adviser who may be able to assist better than an actual bank/lender....
