  • Cabot suddenly increased payment

Had a monthly payment in place for ages on an egg card to cabot for £100 a month.

Suddenly had a letter yesterday that the payments are now £125 a month - starting 30th September!

Surely they cant do that without consultation with me.

I've not been in touch with them about anything either - and there have been no missed payments

Was the payment arrangement originally confirmed in writing Malamute?

Have you ever sent a CCA Request for this?

Blimey.... that's a high payment arrangement as it is!!

As Elsa says, have you sent a CCA request for this? Please tell us more about it and how long you have been paying Cabot.

How are you paying this? I hope not by direct debit/CPA?

What is the method of payment being used and what is the date on the letter? If it is paid via DD and they have not given you 10 day working notice then the Direct Debit Guarantee works in your favour and they should not be changing the payment anyway.

a standing order can only be changed by you! More details for peeps about this account and any CCA1974 / default etc etc etc etc?????

Who says it is enforceable??? complete details would help for information on here???

do a diary as other do by date / event / correspondence, look around and see format for recording this sounds a bit fishy?? or not!

                Re: Cabot suddenly increased payment

Hi niddy told me when I joined the site in 2011 that it was enforceable.

Defaulted Jan 2008 for 14k and been paying sInce due to size with Cabot since 2009.

Given I knew it was enforceable I didn't add it to diary.

they haven't changed the SO or anything. They're just saying that's the rate they'd like. Just ignore it for now. Only you can amend a Standing Order (SO). Not them

Agree with that. Chances are, they'll get fed up collecting the £1 a month and sell it on..... and the more it gets sold on, the less are the chances of having any enforceable paperwork.

Did you CCA Cabot over this or the original creditor? In other words, did Cabot present you with the paperwork? If not, send a fresh CCA request to Cabot by rec. delivery.

To be honest I'd love to reduce the amount I'm paying them.....paid them the normal amount this month - will take a look at the templates and look for one about educing my payments...

                          thanks all!!

I've always steered clear of them, setting the payments myself not giving them the info to back it up........is there a better way?
