Scottish ministers line up for conference - 13/01/2010
The Scottish ministers for housing and community safety are to speak at Credit Today’s Credit Scotland conference in March.
Alex Neil, minister for housing and Fergus Ewing, minister for community safety, will be making keynote presentations at the event in Edinburgh on Thursday 4 March. Launched last year, Credit Scotland was attended by over 100 people and is expected to grow further in 2010.
The ministers will discuss the impact of the Home Owner and Debtor Protection Bill and Scotland’s changing consumer credit regime. It follows rapid planning and implementation of measures to help Scottish debtors with the effects of the credit crunch. However, creditor groups have expressed concern that the measures are too ‘debtor-friendly’ and could result in lender reluctance to do business north of the border.
The event is a rare chance to hear views from both ministers, who will also take questions from the floor.
The line up for the conference also includes the new Accountant in Bankruptcy (AIB) Rosemary Winter-Scott, who will be debating the challenges of Scotland's debt mountain. In addition experts from the industry will cover the impact of court delays on the debt recovery process and look at profiling debtors ahead of rising interest rates. Other speakers include:
* Jo Mayes, head of credit strategy, Scottish Power
* Claire Burke, revenue and benefits manager, Glasgow City Council
* Chris Graham, partner, Nolans Solicitors
This year the conference will be followed by a dinner for delegates, exhibitors and speakers. For more information visit http://www.credittoday.co.uk/creditscotland and to book tickets call 0844 477 4740.

[size=5]I think its my duty to update the Scottish Minister’s, regarding Nolan Macleod Solicitors recent unethical antics taking into account Mr Chris Graham is a Partner :-c
Think it should be the naughty step for Nolans (hopefully the step will be in a prison cell) [-X ;nid1a
