    Cabot and Quantum Debt Recovery

    Yet another account from my friends at Cabot!

    This account is for just over £500 and we haven't heard from Cabot for ages about it.
    Letter titled External Agency Recovery Notification
    As we haven't come to a mutual agreement to repay, account being passed to Quantum Debt Recovery, then could go to Wright Hassall LLP if further legal action is required.
    The is a letter enclosed from QDR which starts with
    'You will be aware yay our client may have a Charging Order in place against your property in relation to this debt'

    No there isn't as no legal action has taken place! Have they committed an offence by making this statement? Another CCA request will be on its way!

    I agree, taking the mick and trying to intimidate which I think goes against CPUTR.

      Presumably just designed to make you call up in a panic saying, "What charging order?".

      At which point I expect they would say it was a "mistake"; but by that time they have you on the phone.

        Me and phone? I love receiving calls when I can answer with my own lack of knowledge .....name? Address? Dofb? Unfortunately I don't know any of them

          Found all the old paperwork! This has been going on since 2009. They have supplied the usual reply card and a separate set of t&cs. This was followed by lots of flannel and offers for reduced settlements.
          Action plan is to wait for contact from QCD send off a new CCA request and restart the merry go round.

              Thanks, tempted to do so. They have started phoning home today and left a message with a son for OH to contact them.....mmmm....maybe no.
              I'm waiting for paperwork before I send the CCA request etc. Unfortunately I'm arranging my father's funeral etc etc. If I speak to them my comments would probably not be repeatable.

                  Unfortunately I have sent off numerous CCA requests, though this will be the first using the AAD template

                    Haven't had anything official other than introductory letter that was included in letter from Cabot. However, they have OH's work number, don't know how and have left him an answer phone message ! Neither of us have ever divulged his work number and he started this job way after this card was closed.

                      They check N Hunter which gives such details from any applications for any credit.
                      I'm the forum administrator and I look after the theme & features, our volunteers & users and also look after any complaints or Data Protection queries that pass through the forum or main website. I am extremely busy so if you do contact me or need a reply to a forum post then use the email or PM features offered because I do miss things and get tied up for days at a time!

                        Think I had better send a three in one letter requesting CCA,making a complaint under CPUTR and telling them to communicate one by letter.

                          I would use one of the telephone harassment templates first, they are not allowed to contact you at work where it may not remain totally private, so wallop them for that first, then I would just send off a sold in dispute, and wait and see what they come back with. They don't sound too sure of this if they are waffling about CCJs, they just be fishing??

                            Mmmm, easier said than done as none of the templates cover this situation.

                            Letter from Cabot outsourcing debt accompanied by a letter of introduction from Quantum. No other correspondence, just an answer phone message left at work stating that they are a debt collector.
                            Cabot stated that there was a letter of introduction and that contact will be made within next 7 days.
                            I really would like a nice killer letter to stop them [ha ha]

                            Contemplating something along the lines of:
                            bemused that debt passed on as in dispute as Cabot have failed to supply a copy of an enforceable CCA.
                            Request that all communication be in writing and that any attempts to contact at work constitutes harassment as stated in legislation set out by the Office of Fair Trading which clearly states that you cannot cause me embarrassment, harass me or pursue a disputed debt.

                            Any additionally suggestions gratefully accepted.

                              Reply received from Quantum. Phone number removed from data base, matter of CCA referred to Cabot, account placed on hold.
