  • New bank acc advice

hey all, was trawling the net for an answer and came across this site, hopefully someone will be able to help out.

I'm currently with HSBC with an advance acc but after 2yrs with em still don't have any loans cc or o/d with em!

I'm considering moving on from them, however i don't think it'll be that easy!!

About 8yrs ago i had financial issues and at the time i banked with LTSB, Natwest & Barclays.

LTSB - Acc closed, failed to pay loan + o/d - passed to debt collection company and now debt statue barred.

Barclays - Had NO debts on it but acc closed for some unknown reason!

Natwest - had savings acc which incurred failed DD charges, trying to fight this off as savings acc shouldn't have DD's on them.

Then i also messed up my one & only CC which was issued by Aqua Card which i think belonged to Halifax, again this was passed on to debt agency & is now statue barred.

I also had a Cashplus Card at one stage and manged to rake up a few hundred debts on it by using it on board trains to buy my train tickets!! Don't know who has the debt or whats happened to it!!

So, now with all the mergers etc that have gone on, which banks would i be able to approach?

HSBC work on internal scores, do you regularly go overdrawn or bounce payments with them?

Never gone o/d with them & never had any payments fail. HOWEVER, having read a previous post earlier about someone else that failed to get an o/d with hsbc i noted that POSSIBLY a few reasons this may be happening to me is, i use ATM to withdraw my rent + spending money. My money from work goes into my credit union acc (could only get a credit union acc whilst i was in debt & unemployed, go it through job center!), i then transfer the money from my credit union acc to my HSBC acc, about £1200 a month. I do have 4 DD's on my HSBC acc never failed on any of them.
