Is there a way of checking for CCJs, defaults etc at an old address without giving linkage to your current address?
I'm slightly concerned as I've been googling for updates on the Egg/Barclaycard/Marlin situation and have seen threads on other forums saying that these have started appearing in court from late September 2014 onwards. This is exactly the situation I didn't want to be in, as I moved out of my previous address in autumn 2012 and the Royal Mail will only redirect your mail for two years. I heard nothing from Marlin up to the point that Royal Mail stopped redirecting my old mail, though.
I am on the electoral register at the new address but have not applied for credit on anything, so as far as I'm aware there is no linkage between the old and the new address. I had a separate dispute with Barclays, who were refusing to accept a correspondence address I gave them and sending threatograms to my old address despite knowing full well that I didn't live there. I eventually took this as a complaint to the FSO, which has been dragging on but is drawing to a close.
However, the possibility that Marlin might have been sending paperwork to the old address is a concern. The obvious way to check would be to request a £2 statutory report from Equifax, but I really don't want to link the old address to the new if I can possibly avoid it. I have found a site called Trust Online that purports to search for CCJs registered against a specific address without you having to give your present address, for which they charge £4. They do ask for the billing address for your debit card, though, so I suppose they could still sneakily pass on that new address to the CRAs. Does anyone know if this site is legit or a scam?
Thanks. Oh, and long time no see everyone. Will try to be a regular again.
