Ok, did not know where to post this but hope this is okay.
I note it states phones in the category so here goes.... 2 .
I have been registered with TPS since about 2004, and have been in touch with them just recently to make sure that my details were still registered.
They have confirmed "yes".
I am also ex-directory.
Anyway, over the last few months my phone have been non stop with nuisance calls, not so much from banks, but mainly from BT.
As usual it was BT marketing calls to sell broadband, I told them many times that I know where they are if I am interested, and not to call again because my life is hectic enough as it is.....but of course they were not going to listen to that.
Now my hubby works shifts and its so damn maddening when they ring upto 10 times every single bl**dy day!!! , I told them again to get lost.
It got to the stage I reported the tel numbers to TPS, and within a few days the calls stopped.
Not for long though, so I was livid , rang BT and asked to be put through to the dept to have my details removed, this was at the end of July, maybe early August, they were apologetic and assured me that I would receive no calls after 28 days.
Yeah Yeah Yeah!!!
Those 28 days have well gone by and the sales BT calls continue.
I emailed them and threatened to complain to the ICO and made a list of numbers that I know were from the UK and not abroad, and told them enough is enough, and if they carry on I am taking my line elsewhere.
Anyway received a email back, a bit useless really and what a load of billy bull ***t.
Here is my email received from BT below........
Hi Di30,
Thanks for your email. I was sorry to learn that you have been receiving marketing calls despite being registered with the telephone preference scheme. I called you this afternoon on XXXXXXXXXXX to discuss this further with you, sorry to have missed you. I left a message to let you know that I had called.
You originally registered with the telephone preference scheme in 2004. As this was some time ago, I have re-registered you for this. It can take up to 28 days for your details to be removed from all company marketing lists so you may receive one more call. TPS will only stop UK based companies from cold calling you, unfortunately, there is no way of preventing international numbers (this includes companies that out source out of the UK).
I have also removed consent for BT to call you with marketing campaigns and promotions. However, BT will still contact you if there is a problem with your bill, any faults etc.
If after 28 days you are still receiving UK based marketing calls, there are a few other steps that you can take. Details of calling features that give you more control over your incoming calls can be found here: http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/c ... icId=25504. You could also renumber your land line free of charge if the problem persists.
Once again, I am very sorry that you have been receiving marketing calls and thank you for bringing this to my attention. Please feel free to contact me via email should you require anything further.
You may shortly receive a survey asking how I personally dealt with your email. If you could take a few minutes to let me know what you thought about my response I'd really appreciate it. In addition to answering the questions on me specifically, there will also be an opportunity to add comments on your experience in general.
Regards
