Re: Hooray Hall. Adventures of a Handyman.
You say I said the exact opposite? was it on this thread or the Wheres Cameron. Doesn't surprise me I often get things Base over Apex (could be more descriptive )
There has been some good points made here and on the Cameron thread. Some of the posters have put their point more clearly and eloquently than I ever could.
Now coming from Eton Cameron would be a prime candidate for the powers behind the throne to back. A career politician, the right connections, the right family. Not much is said about his Grandfather, 2nd Baronet, ex Lt Colonel, High Sheriff of Berkshire. In any other society he would be hailed as a minor aristocrat.
Now Cameron probably thinks he is the nicest most human, charitable, honorable and straight politician he knows. Its all down to breeding.
At some point in the Old Farts Club (Etonian Branch, I know a few of them) it will have been put like this. David young Fellow me Lad, some of us chaps have been thinking if you throw your hat in the ring during the next leadership election, we would be happy to give you our backing.
We would like you to meet our friend Rupert, his papers will put in a good word for you, always helps don't you know.
He will have gone away feeling on top of the world. One of the old Duffers would have turned to the other and said lets call Rothchild and tell him things will be fine now we've found another malleable idiot to take the heat.
This post is just Handy fantasizing again, Just like no one believes Texas Oil Money got George W elected.
My old Boss when I worked in Power Generation was the sort of Guy that after you shook his hand, you would check you were still wearing you watch. He honestly believed he was the most honest person who ever drew breath, Others said of him he couldn't even lie straight in bed at night. TRUE.
Anyway that's the rant over for tonight.
If I get chance later more mundane stuff like life at the Hall.
Regards, Handy
