  • 93 Year old Nan possible scam

    Hi guys / Niddy

My nan has received a letter from Tower Investigations ltd. Very vague.

"We act on behalf of a client and are currently conducting an investigation in order to establish information held.

In order to help us progrss with our enquiry we would greatly apreciate it if you could contact us to confirm a few details"

    Given a freephone number.

My nan is 93, it was sent to her care home, she hasnt had a debt in her whole life.

They are also known as Global Debt Recovery Ltd, and usually act on behalf of lloyds TSB.

Reading up on the net, hundreds of people have also got this scam letter in the past.

They consumer credit licence is 565360

I almost rang them because their letter says they are private investigators, surveillance specialists and genealogical experts, but i believe this to be a scam.

Reading other threads, once they have made contact they bombard people with letters saying they owe X amount until they either pay up, or finally get no where and back down.

Niddy if you read this, would you be so kind as to look in to it for me before i proceed? as my nan may well have an unclaimed estate and if they are genuine, i need to chase it up, but i refuse to speak to them until its clear.

Other threads suggest they just chase people who happen to have the same name and D.O.B so it could be that.

Happy to scan and upload the letter if need be.

This will have nothing whatsoever to do with an "unclaimed estate".... they are debt collectors. Ignore them. If they were that sure about who they were chasing and for what, they would have said so.

      exactly what i thought.

My nans care home assistant, made it sound like they were heir hunters, when she scanned and emailed the letter, i knew straight away it was prob bollox.

And well google confirmed it for me.

As i said my nan has never even had a credit card or overdraft, shes never had a debt in her life, they are either scamming old people, or trying to trace a person with the same name and dob,

There can't be that many 93 year old people about...let alone with the same name and DOB!
