DVLA - they search and share data with CRA's.

Passport office use a different system but they still do checks!

Also on any future application that asks for previous names you would have to disclose the old one, hence creating a link from old CRA records to the new, and alerting any DCAs that might check.

People have floated these ideas before, but unless you are going to go off grid and live in a cave for 6 + years without credit, bank accounts or other official docs, then it's highly likely a link would be made somewhere somehow some when.

plus im certain that CRA's show ALL names known as. meaning everyname you have ever used, or changed by deed poll.

But why do you wish to change your name, Mr Yorkshire-Bank-Are-All-Bastards?

                LOL

not sure if you can have credit under witness protection, but if you could i guess it wouldnt get linked to your CRA cos you would have a different name, address and d.o.b so prob nothing to link it together.

Believe it or not, witness protection candidates are blocked via CIFAS Protective registration..... (not very secure really eh?)

Both old and new address/names and in both cases the alerts/searches go to the case handler that would be protecting you.

Well fecked up if you ask me

Yea, remember J Bulgers killers - that one that got re-arrested a while back, well he was deep in debt wasn't he - Barclays and Lloyds got stung for a few grand (on drugs and whores if I recall).....

It does cos in Wit Protection you're not actually changing anything, it's an informal legal way of doing things - they do not go through deed poll to change your details, it's more a case of forget the old - use the new.

Then they 'acquire' a passport and stuff for you, to get you going. I know when I was at JC+ when we had witness protection claimants (yea, it does happen) the whole claim is authorised verbally by a chief of the police (usually from that district) followed up by a memo to one of the JC+ specialist depts who would then manually add the claim - basically it ran on a different system and the average JC+ staff would not see it. Anyone who accesses a protective registrant would need a password from a central dept who would authorise it.

I'm not saying banks are that high-tech but still, you can imagine that a lot is done via the chief of police and the local manager of a branch....

                      Re: re change of name

When I moved to the UK I was known By Mrs Y this was not my maiden name but that name from my 1st marriage.... Mrs Y is linked to my Mrs X name which is my married name now. However my Birth name which is on my certificate and I can get a passport etc in that name is is mrs Z.

Technically speaking I "could" go back to Mrs Z and start fresh as the UK have never known me as Mrs Z
