I may be in a position to clear 3 cards that are still being paid, but the template letter doesn't really cover my situation! All 3 have had arrangements for over 10 years and have long dropped off CRAs. All are between £3 and £4,000 and payments of £10 or £15 are being made; they are with the original creditors.

How much information do I need to include? I thought of saying that a relative etc and for a limited time, include the phrases about no one else will be able to collect and the court re court case.

Should this be sufficient? I was thinking of offering £1,000 unless anyone thinks I should try lower.

    Thank you

        Re: Settlements

£500 per card has been rejected. The 2 that I have heard from will accept roughly a third of each outstanding balance, plus they will show on CRAs as partially settled. These cards have been on a reduced payment since 2003 and I would like to get rid of them before they hear of a new address.
        any thoughts greatlfully received.

Offer £1k then.... See how that goes? You may have to cease payments to get their attention first mind you .....

Thanks NIDDY. I don't actually want to pay anything, but I would like to clear these things while I have the opportunity and I know I'm not very good at poker!

                  I'm in a similar position.

My home is under offer and when sold I'll be able to pay off all my creditors and start life over.

But there's a teensy weensy bit of me who doesn't want them to have a brass penny of my money after the way they have treated me in my darkest hour.

So I'm probably not the best person to ask for objective advice since I'm really bitter about the way banks weren't there for me when I needed them.

I'm not settling any of my debts until or unless my back is against the wall legally speaking. Then I'll pay up. But not a minute before.

                  Plan B xx

                      Re: Settlements

I think the general consensus is move, cease payments but keep aside a bit of savings to offer the debt if and when they contact you at the new address. That's what most people here do but we cannot suggest this course of action. It's kinda naughty.

I'm just confirming what the majority of members here do in such a situation. If you want to know what Cym is doing please ask her off the public forum
