  • Hotmail problem, please help !

    Morning all

I've had a hotmail account for years and the last couple of days its been asking me to verify my account, get password etc and now I can't get in, has anyone else experienced this and have you got round this.

Oh and remember I am a complete technophobe so need any instructions in plain english please.

So that's why you didn't reply to my email last night

Are you sure these messages are coming from Hotmail and not someone faking it or trying to hack into your account by stealing your password if/when you reveal it?

I was stuck on a boat on the river and the river police had to rescue us as our relation forgot that the Crouch is tidal, alcohol + boats = disaster in our case lol. If/when I can get back into my email account I'll reply asap hunny.

If someone can tell me how to do a screen shot I'll post it up on here.

I have 2 hotmail accounts and some time ago I was asked to verify one of the accounts...I was asked to give another email address so I gave the other hotmail one and they sent a password to that. I only had to use the password once and haven't had any problems. I'm not sure what you can do Sapphy if you can't acces your account at all

No doing screenshots, I know you, you'll leave all your information showing!!

                  I found this:

If you've received a message asking you to update or verify your Microsoft account security info, you probably want to know why.

To help protect your personal data, we're asking everyone with a Microsoft account to make sure the security info associated with their account is correct and up-to-date. When your security info (like an alternate email address or phone number) is current, we can use it to verify your identity if there's ever a problem. For example, if you forget your password, or if someone else tries to take over your account, Microsoft uses your security info to help you get back into your account.

Do I have to verify my security info?

Hopefully someone else can advice further but the link above is worth reading, plus the others too

Re: Hotmail problem, please help !

Yes this is legit - its usually after you've accessed your hotmail account from either another PC, or from a mobile device. Unfortunately (as Mrs SnV discovered), if you've not kept your personal info up to date (including security info and mobile number), and you cannot verify your ID to their satisfaction, then you will get locked out of your account, and the advice from the Microsoft 'Helpdesk' is create a new account!

If you do manage to get past the security questions I'd make sure your personal info is up to date, and I also forward any important emails to another email address I have as a backup in the event I get locked out.

                        Best

The consumer is that sleeping giant.!!
