Ok sadly I googled us (yea yea I know already) :niddy

Anyways I found this and smiled knowing we have support getting to local forums - using our templates and linking to us - thanks whoever you are

So that got me thinking. Let's have a thread purely for links to anything to do with us as a forum, website or anything else "interesting"! I don't want to know about individuals - this isn't an ego boost for users. What I'm thinking is its a useful resource for us to get things right (at least improve if we're going wrong) and also to see what's out there about us!

Here's the post I refer to at the start --> Santander harassment .. Advice please [Archive] - Sheffield Forum

Remember, doing google searches for our name or forum helps us get found quicker by those in need of our help so the more of you that batter google with all about debt and all about forum hits will improve our ranking meaning you're all helping others in similar positions find us before they make that grave mistake of being told to pay £1 and get their credit file or being told to pay what they borrowed.

    Let's go get google!

I'm the forum administrator and I look after the theme & features, our volunteers & users and also look after any complaints or Data Protection queries that pass through the forum or main website. I am extremely busy so if you do contact me or need a reply to a forum post then use the email or PM features offered because I do miss things and get tied up for days at a time!

If you spot any spammers, AE's, abusive or libellous posts or anything else that just doesn't feel right then please report them to me as soon as you spot them at: webmaster@all-about-debt.co.uk

Niddy, i would perhaps think about using the "other" forums filter words used for AAD as meta keywords

Mata keywords do not work with google mate, it's all page clicks now thus I am doing things like this

Plus we have our own UE keywords and Template keywords. The other forums use words like 'debt, money' etc - lol. Ok.

Well see, the thing is, i work with a very expeirenced SEO Optimisation guru, and he informs me, that meta keywords are still very relevant, i understand google use other methods, but there are more search engines than google, so you cant just rely on them to increase your rankings.

meta keywords should reflect key words which describe the content of the page, as well as being included in content texts. It can be open to abuse, but they have methods of detecting this quite easily, and your ranking suffers as a result.

Since updating keywords for a client website, hes rankings have shot up, so im at a loss as to understand why people say it doesnt matter.

It doesn't matter though, well not for Google and to be honest we're a UK forum so we have no need for keywords that bring foreign (Yahoo/Ask etc) traffic here.

Most UK use google thus we stick to google. Keywords have no affect on google so I too am surprised by your claim that their rankings shot up

Proof here ---> Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Google does not use the keywords meta tag in web ranking

Q: Does Google ever use the "keywords" meta tag in its web search ranking?
              A: In a word, no.

Thanks Nid, perhaps the rank increase was due to the context of the information more so than the keywords used.
