  • Halifax Credit Card Charges

    Hi

I am in the process of reclaiming the charges from my Halifax credit card I have followed the guide and written the various letters but they have not responded since January. The letter stated that they would respond to my complaint in four weeks. I wrote another letter a week ago advising that I hadn't received a response. I was wondering what do I do now as they are clearly ignoring my letters. Do I go straight to the Financial Ombudsman?

    Thanks

        Hi

        I'm here now.

They have 8 weeks and they should have at least acknowledged your complaint and keep you updated.

        You have 2 choices here..
Write to chase them up and give them another 14 days maximum, as they have had more than ample time to deal with your case, and tell them you have not heard anything and would appreciate some feedback on your case dated on letter XX/XX/XXXX, and inform them if you hear nothing by 14 days from the date on your letter you will take your case to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

Or continue to make your complaint to the FOS now, by either giving them a ring, ask if they can take on your complaint, or ask them to send you a complaint form in the post if you do not have the facilities to download and print the complaints form from the FOS website.

        Good luck.

If you do decide to write with an extra 14 days, post by signed for recorded delivery, this way you will have proof of them receiving your letter.

          Hiya

          Thanks for the reply

I have already written giving them 14 days to respond so I think I have no other choice but to go to the FOS. will download the relevant forms etc.

Thanks for the advise and I will let you know I how I get on

              Monlou

If you have kept copies of letters you sent to the bank, enclose copies of them with your complaint form as well, and "if" any written correspondence at all also enclose those copies.
