Hackintosh revisited
Quite a while ago, I was planning on turning my desktop computer into a 'Hackintosh' (a non-Apple computer running Mac OSX) because it had the right hardware to make it feasible - Intel CPU, Gigabyte motherboard, UEFI etc. I had got OSX running successfully within VirtualBox on this computer, so the...Last edited by evilcartman; 23 August 2015, 21:13.

Any Redress against Northern Powergrid for massive surges damaging PC?
My son's street had a power cut 2 nights ago. After the power came back on again, it was OK for a bit then the lights were glowing really bright, the kettle blew a fuse and his computer banged and went off.
It's fried his PSU and motherboard.
The pc is crucial to him, he's in...

Hi, I need some help please.
A few weeks ago because my laptop hard drive was full to bursting, I decided to uninstall programmes that hadn't been used for a long time and it's worked fine since.

Over the w/e I saw a better Hd, a cheaper one with 1Tb more storage so today I tried to return the 2Tb one but when I got to the store they asked 'did I open it' and said yes, they...

Building a Hackintosh
In one of life's great ironies, it looks like I'll be able to build a 'Hackintosh' using the very same graphics card that Linux doesn't get on with. The motherboard, drives, graphics card etc are all suitable.
It's not that easy to build one, as Apple don't exactly approve of people building...

Installing Linux
What is the best way to install Linux on to a PC, so it can exist alongside a Windows 7 or XP system?
Two weeks ago, I installed Linux Mint 13 on my old netbook, using a USB stick and Mint4Win. After one or two very minor teething troubles, it has worked brilliantly, and I've hardly booted...

As a newbie to the forums, hope to get some good advice and learn some more about law in regards to debt as I go along.
Before I ask some questions, some background information might be useful.
I opened a Halifax current account in 2000 and...

Windows 8 Is Entirely Unusable
I have a warning here, based on bitter personal experience, for anyone thinking of buying a new desktop or laptop computer. Do NOT buy anything which has Windows Hate installed as the operating system, unless you are able and prepared to scrap it completely and install Linux Mint.
I like...

Removed from files
Six or so weeks after making CCA request, the DCA has informed me that they have removed my account from their files and referred the matter back to the lender - no explanation.
I can only assume that they just can't get hold of the paper work (which would date back to the 80's) from the lender....
