    Did you know when you apply for any finance, and you use your passport that they check it out?

    Have a read for yourself: ---> http://www.world-check.com/passport-check/

    Institutions rely fundamentally on a passport to verify an individual’s identity and yet historically they have had no way of verifying whether a passport is a forgery or not. This fundamental flaw in the current Customer Identification process can now be addressed with Passport-Check.

    Originally created to assist banks in assessing the risk that new or existing customers could pose by providing them with a global database of heightened-risk individuals and businesses, World-Check is today an essential tool not only in financial compliance but also in background and pre-employment screening, fraud prevention, government intelligence and enforcement and other identity authentication and risk-prevention practices.

    Re: Passport Check

    They would have to get your permission to do this though right? Because your passport has information stored on it (well the biometric ones) that a bank would not normally be privvy to

      They confirm personal details only. Not the biometric lol. It's a verification method and no, no permission necessary as when you apply you usually agree to the lender checking "credit ref agencies, fraud agencies and selected other 3rd parties"! That's the bugger there - selected 3rd parties.

      Thing is National Hunter is part of experian so no additional authority needed, likewise with passport checking - synectics solutions - they're a 3rd party.
