  • Re: Hooray Hall. Adventures of a Handyman.

My mother phoned me earlier and was on the phone for so long I agreed she could come over and start decorating for me on Wednesday. She was supposed to start a week Monday (I've arranged the deliveries of new stuff to come the week during that week!!) so she's put my schedule all wrong

You deserve some chill out time but I'm sure Mrs H will be grateful for all your hard graft!

As it happens I quite enjoy decorating. I am not a professional but I like to do as good a job as I can.

Mrs Handy like to go away every so often as it gives me the time to crack on with a few projects. Last time she came back to a Welsh Dresser and a New Coffee Table (made from an old Worktop and some old Pallets). Not as rough as it sounds, the pallets were made from a wood similar to Mahogany and the top is Solid Oak.

It's just that old age is slowly creeping in and I can't go as fast as I once did. Hey Ho happens to us all at some time.

Now shall I have my CoCo or another Wee Nippie Sweetie (Dram).

You're not old Handy, it's just that you're mind is so full of wisdom and wit that your body can't keep up

I read your post and had a spoonerism (that's when you get your mucking words fuddled) I thought Angelic's getting to know me too well

Well that's what most folks think.

Good luck with the decorating, If there's any thing I can do? (short of swinging a paintbrush) let me know.

Thanks Handy...if you've got any room for me to move the kids in whilst it's getting done, that would be a great help!!

You wouldn't like it here at the moment, why do you think Mrs Handy has gone to DD's for a week. You Cant even see my Kitchen Floor tonight.

I have taken shelf's down, Polyfilla'd holes in the walls, sraped loose paint. It looks like a bombs gone off. I only intended a pot of paint and one roll of wall paper

Already it's turned into a major Disaster Project.

Mind you when it's done if you and the kids ever need a stop over on your way to and from Peppa Pig Land, You are always welcome.

The kids could have the honour of winding up Lady Hooray by running up and down her lawn.

              Regards, Handy

Your dresser looks lovely Handy. I can't believe you made it yourself.

I used to have a lovely Welsh Dresser with some lovely blue and white crockery until one night we had a massive argument.....no more lovely blue and white plates!

Hi Pix, no Mrs H doesn't throw plates but she's a dead shot with a frying pan. She tells me I wont let her buy the real heavy ones that will last a lifetime, I tell her because they hurt too much.

Swany only one empty tonight, I will admit to having had a dram while watching spooks, but as tomorrow is Monday and I'm on a strict deadline to get the kitchen finished by Friday I thought it best to take it easy (liar)

                          Regards all, Handy.

She throws one of those and a lifetime is not going to be long at all................

Well Handy's finally had a night off. I have worked up on the decorating for the time being. I still have a lot of joinery to do but that will have to wait for daylight as there is a lot of sawing and shaping to do. That's a daylight outside job.

Yesterday I worked 20 hours straight to get the kitchen finished, yes photos will follow to prove it.

So tonight after I had finished hanging the new curtains, yes we men know how to do that job as well. It was a shower, get rid of 3 days beard and into clean clothes.

Tomorrow Handy goes back to looking like a Wurzel, but tonight I have cleaned up well, read my Country life and enjoyed a wee dram.

                              Regards all, Handy
