  • washing machine return to currys

My brother in law two days ago brought a new bosch washing machine which has broken down. I've told him to take it stright back and get either a new one or refund. He rang curry's but they refused to do anything until bosch comes out a checks it which will take a week.

My view is under the sale of goods act he can take it stright back to them.

    Am I right?????

I don't know but it's ridiculous that a washing machine breaks down within 2 days...and he shouldn't have to wait a week.

I'd be emailing the CEO Sebastian.James@dixons.co.uk

I agree Pixie, after only two day it is ridiculous, trading standards at your local council are the ones and see what they say, plainly unfit for the purpose here though.

I would also keep receipts for washing your items elsewhere, including traveling back and fro (cost of fuel), and make a claim against that as well!!!

tell him to go instore and speak to a manager

get him to point blank refuse anything other than a collection of this broken model and delivery of new one next day free of charge.

Otherwise report to TS and also CEO.

Your BIL needs to inform Currys that, as per the sales of goods act, he is rejecting the goods as faulty and is entitled to a full refund.

He should NOT accept Currys offer of an inspection by Bosch.

He is fully entitled to reject the goods and return them to the retailer. This is just Currys trying to wash their hands of their responsibilities.

Check the receipt from currys, it clearly says that you have 14 days for a full refund or exchange, regardless of whether its able to be repaired, so do NOT stand for that shit from them.

I bought a LED 3D TV from them a few months back, it packed up after 10 days, they offered me a repair, i refused and demanded a full refund as my right under their own terms. They refunded my money as soon as they rang samsung to confirm the item was faulty.

hi it fully states in their refund policy if under 21 days then an exchange or full refund will be given .so unless the store think it may have been damaged by your BIL eg not taking the transit bolts out maybe, there should be no problem in getting a new one i would go back to the store and speak to the manager not the sales mananger but the store manager and in politely ask for a new machine as bosch will more than likely agree an exchange anyway but you should not have to wait for a week on an item thats 2 days old

Currys are arseholes, i remember they tried making me pay delivery on a new tv because the first one packe dup within 10 days.

I refused of course, i explained to the guy that i shouldnt have to pay delivery, its not my fault Their tv stopped working.

I also was refused any discount on a new tv even though every other like for like was more expensive than the one i previously bought.

Thats why i got a full refund, i refused to give them my money as they blatantly refused to help the customer to rectify the situation.

Re: washing machine return to currys

Currys returns policy doesn't alter a consumers rights under the SOGA.

The goods are faulty - true

The customers timeframe to establish the goods were faulty (2 days) is reasonable - true

The customer has the right to reject the goods - true

The retailer should refund the customer - not happened!

Currys are trying to wriggle out of their responsibilities under the SOGA.

This is typical Currys behaviour and they have a track record!

Currys can ask the customer if they are happy for a repair, but the consumer has the right to reject this.

Re: washing machine return to currys

I agree to all the comments above, but my brother in law is a woss, I offered to take it back with him but he didn't want the hassle.

So how he has to wait a week for bosch to come and decide if it broke and then sort it out.

So you can only do so much for people.

Also i was looking forwards to tearing one from the curry's manager

It makes you wonder why some people won't stick up for their rights

Oh well, mgfboy, you've tried to help him...if he doesn't want that help then you can't force him...what an idiot though!
