Hello im Gelf, new to this site, i was on money saving expert but theres i few idiots on there.
Ive never be the best with money and in 2010 i had 2 credit cards with 15k of debt on them, but i was slowly managing pay it back....very slowly.
In Feb 2010 i had a few large unexpected bills, i didnt know what to as the bank refused my loan apllication, as i already had a current loan.... so i thought id apply for a Quickquid loan online. It was so easy and had the money within minutes..... i thought paying back would be easy, id just do some overtime at work.
Just before my payday my washing machine died, again i didnt know what to do.....now this was my big mistake! and looking back i cant believe that i thought it was a good idea to take out another payday loan with another company.
Again applying was so easy, paying it all back wasnt.
Between 2010 and 2014 i ended up in a sprial of payday debt borrowing from 1 to pay another and so on and so on........ i just kept telling myself that ill do more overtime to pay it off.... at the peak i was borrowing from
Wonga
Quickquid
pounds2pocket
Payday UK
Mr Lender
Lending Stream
Payday Express
1 Month Loan
Sunny loans
every month id roll them over or pay them off by taking out another loan........ id get paid on the 25th, the very same day my wages would be virtually all gone and id have borrow again to get my monthly living expenses. I was doing nearly 100hrs a month in overtime to try and get straight but the loans were crippling me.
In Oct 2013 i finally came to my senses and contacted Stepchange Debt Charity who set up a DMP for me, im now 2 years into it with 2 years to go.
I cannot believe that these companies kept lending me money, if they were doing their checks like they said would they not notice that i had a huge amount of debt and that i was spiraling out of control??
Im currently sat with 4 years of bank statements and the pc logging how much i borrowed off each and how much i paid back........its truly frightening...
2010-2014 Wonga 43 loans or roll overs £8561 borrowed and £13874 paid back, and that just Wonga.
When i was in my DMP i owed Wonga 600+ and after the Wonga scandal kicked of they wiped my debt clean, think it was just short of £400.
Does anyone think i stand a chance of claiming any refunds back off these companies as i know feel they lent me money when the clearly shouldnt have as i couldnt afford them.
well that off my chest and thanks for reading.
