Yes they are real I have checked them out. However what type of debt is it and when was it taken out. I ask because if it's a payday loan there are often illegal charges etc on it and it would be foolish to pay these until it is sorted, if it is a credit card or loan depending on when it was taken out the agreement has to have certain things in it before they can enforce it.
Niddy and the Mods will give you excellent advice.

There are no stupid questions (unless asked by jon1965)

Well it's entirely up to you.
I guess some of it depends on your circumstances, personally as I am on income based benefits and have lots of creditors I am paying them all the same which is nothing.
Morally I think PDL's are evil and deserve everything they get (or not as the case may be) however SOME Pdls have been known to go to court or so I believe although not many, and some have marked defaults on credit files but I would think if you were using a PDL your credit will be shot anyway.

Personally if you are happy to have a default marker on your credit file I would leave them to bluster. IF they go down the court route make an offer to pay.

How much is it for if you don't mind me asking

                Hi Sofia
Are you going to pay them or do you need help fighting them?

                  Re: Mercantile Recovery Solutions

First the op needs to decide based on his/her situation.

Rather than just saying dont pay, need to establish the effect it will have in obtaining credit, and whether obtaining credit has already been ruined.

                  Unenforceablilty is not for everyone.

I totally agree and that is what I said earlier on in the thread, they need to decide what they want to do and weigh up the pros and cons.

I wouldn't! Any damage with CRA's is already there so paying them now will achieve nothing, other than self preservation maybe but we don't work with that - so in my opinion, I'd forget about it...

If they get in touch again then we can always guide you to a F&F Offer which may work out a lot cheaper.
