Both entering into and exiting from Treaties come under the Royal Prerogative which the prime Minister of the day exercises in the Queens name. Mishcons legal action is doomed to fail but will no doubt be an attempt to tie the Government up in the courts. Depends on how strong the new PM is and whether they are a 'remainer' or a' brexiteer' as to how this will play.

it shouldn't "play" at all, the way some people have behaved is unbelievable, from that nutter Tim Farron the morning after to a constant stream of invective from daft kids and a small but noisy section of the business community, whatever happened to the ideals of democracy, we've fought wars, started wars to foist democracy on other people, and here we are calmly trying to ignore it,

As far as I am aware the result of the referendum was not legally binding and does not force the government to do anything at all. On the other hand it would be a dangerous game for a PM to simply ignore the supposedly democratic wishes of the majority although 63% of the population did not vote to leave

It seems that predictions on the economy are coming true with today's announcement by the bank of England. #

I can see nothing positive at all from Brexit and many of the people who voted for it will have seriously damaged the country but may well be dead before the worst happens.

                A thought
If Scotland goes and Ireland is reunified , we will not be the United Kingdom any more and as such will not have a place at the worlds top table. England and Wales are not one of the P5 in the security council

Ancient Greek philosophers claimed the people could not be trusted to make decisions - I think they were right.

Why do we believe that Democracy is the best ?
The ancient Athenians ceded power to an autocrat during times of trouble and conflict. What is wrong with a benevolent dictatorship?

England had a Civil War over Parliament and Our Civil liberties have been fought for and won against kings and yes tyrants.
                    Habeas corpus for instance
something to think about "the courts have been able to declare an Act of Parliament to be incompatible with the European Convention!"

Apologies... must chip in here because I was enlightened somewhat when I got offered the job as poll clerk. It was a busy day hardly time to change the vote pads. They are all numbered and all the votes could be checked back to the voter which I didn t realise The pencils are oil based and difficult to rub out but pens are allowed. The only way do anything illegal in my opinion was to lose a box of votes. But even then the number of votes in the box has to balance with the number on the poll clerks pad, together with the serial number on the back. Each poll officer responsible for his/her boxes. So it would have to be very well thought out, rubbing out least of the ideas. I would say more the hubby whispering in wifeys ear....we voting out....lol

I felt proud of my country ... lets see if its all been worth it.....S

What's needed now are some 'I'm Backing Britain' rallies.

I blame the government for not having a plan in place , they were arrogant enough to think all the minions would do as we are told.He also said the result was legal and binding.
