  • Re: Kilasuits Diary (debt free and life improvements)

    I know what you are going through, my son is in a similar situation. CSA sending letters, but will not reply to my letters on his behalf, ex trying to screw him for as much as she can. He is depressed, on about giving everything up and going abroad for a bar job. I will sort this mess out for him. Just need to make sure that he is eating, and looking after himself.
    If it helps. When I was going through a crap time, 25+ years ago. My best friend sent me a framed poem which is now in front of me, I will quote it for you.
    DONT QUIT
    When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
    When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
    When the funds are low and the debts are high,
    And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
    When care is pressing you down a bit,
    Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
    Life is queer with it's twists and turns,
    As every one of us sometimes learns,
    And many a failure turns about,
    When he might have won had he stuck it out;
    Don't give up though the pace seems slow-
    You may succeed with another blow.
    Success is failure turned inside out-
    The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
    And you never can tell how close you are,
    It may be near when it seems so far;
    So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
    It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

    Please read this, you are a sensible lad. I am sure that you will come through it!

      That's a great poem Enforcer...perhaps I should take note of it myself!

              Nope i've had it for about 12 years and dont think that any meds etc will help me out so i havent bothered with raising it to the doctors at all. I've got a rather strong handle on it (i think) as i've been constantly told by the people that i work with that its kinda unreal the amount that i've been through and i'm still able to think about work when at work. Still telling people that they are talking s*** when i think that they are wrong and can prove it.

              That wont change anytime soon.

              Rethinking a few things and decisions as i need to force through alot of positive changes in my life to make things work again.
              Currently being 20mins away from work if driving and having to make use of public transport which takes 6 times that is really frustrating - not sure i'll actually be able to insure the car (financially) as its been a struggle till now to get insured anyway.

              As much as i like the team that i work with my real frustration is that from the finance perspective there is nothing that can be done to help me out which is really annoying especially as i know i could in 3 years time be in a role earning 50k+ without much additional training needs as i have the ability to absorb information.

              All in all theres alot that can be done to further make my life easier but atm it seems like that is less and less likely to ever happen especially seeing as i spoke to someone about potentially linking a financial incentive product to internal personal development ie good rate on loans or Credit cards with out looking externally at CRA's by doing a complete manual underwriting process which would look at the data from the CRAs but not use it heavily for scoring.

              But you know Nobody likes change do they

                      Is there a family member who could insure it (add it to their own policy as a 2nd vehicle?) and put you down as a named driver? This would be a 'holding position' until you could get a reasonable quote for cover of your own. Or maybe your employer could be persuaded to provide the insurance cover through a company block policy and dock the premium from your wages?

                        Unfortunately not

                        Plus you really think that i get any financial leeways through work at all?

                        I wish. Could sort everything out and then i really wouldnt be in a s*** state

                            I know things may look bleak at the moment, but please don't give up. At WORST your financial position will alter in 3 years as your CRA records start to clear up.

                            As for the car insurance, is it that YOU cannot get insurance or is the problem that you cannot get insurance for the CAR. You may find that getting a different car would allow you to get insured. Who are you trying to get insurance with? Sometimes the comparison sites are not the best ones to go through, and maybe direct with a specialist broker you could find something.

                            There are always options - my OH wrote off our car last year, and has 2 CCJ's. I have approx 20 defaults over the last 3 years and both of us have managed to get insurance. Not as cheap as it used to be, but we still got it. It was a case of adjusting what we could get access to - hopefully the same will apply for you.

                            Remember you have a great support network here - I'd suggest keep posting as it seems that the bad things that have happened to you did so when you were not!
