  • What appens after Default removed?

When a Defaulted account is removed from one's credit files, can it ever be filed again by a creditor in certain circumstances?

For example, my defaulted accounts come off next year and if at any point thereafter I make full & final offers that are accepted, can the "settled" debts be recorded with the CRAs?

Also, if I have a Default dated 2006 due to come off next year, and I make an acceptable F&F, will the account be marked as settled 2011 and taken off my credit files in 2017?

After default expiration that's it. There can never be reference to that account again so as we always say, a default goes after 6 years weather paid or not.

Why pay a debt that's going to be dead soon anyway, unless of course it wouldn't be statute barred (ie you paid something AFTER being defaulted)....

Don't worry, once it goes - it's gone.

no they won't be statute barred as I'm still paying the beggars despite being defaulted. what I was concerned about was settling with them after the default had been wiped from my cred files and finding that they'd registered the settlement. But you've ansewred my question good fellow. Thanks.
