  • Warm Home discount scheme ...

I hadn't really heard of this scheme until recently but went on the Govt web site to have a look.
It stated you need to qualify by satisfying all three of the below -

    1) Your supplier offers the scheme
    2) Your name (or your partners) is on the bill
    3) You recieve the gurantee credit element of the Pension credit scheme.

    Well I didn't satiisfy all 3 of those, so I thought..ok , forget it..

But further down the page it also says..

Each supplier has 'their own' scheme...

So, I went on to my suppliers web site (First Utility) and found the details and an online application form.

The criteria for qualification for my supplier was different to the above , and so i filled in the online form and emailed it back to them.

2 weeks later they replied to say I qualified, and am eligible for the £140.00 electric refund, paid to my account by 31st March 2015.

No forms to send off or anything.

This is a massive help with high fuel costs over winter and I wondered how many others either didn't know about the scheme or just read the first part of the Govt web page and thought they wouldn't qualify.

So it's worth checking out with your electricity supplier to see if you satisfy their criteria...£140 is worth having isn't it.

Thanks for posting about this - I didn't know about it and neither did my parents. Any relief to help towards paying the extortionate prices of energy is always something!

What was your energy supplier's criteria and how did that differ from the official Government scheme?

bascially they have a 'core group' You will qualify as part of the Core Group if you, or your partner living with you, are either:

If either of these apply, the DWP should write to you this autumn and let you know. They will also notify us so we can pay your rebate and you do not need to contact us about this.

Re: Warm Home discount scheme ...

so,for me it was simple..I qualified under Set C as I am over 62 and my gross income is less than £16,010 pa . I thus filled in the online form and as they obviously still had some funding left they approved me..they haven't asked for any evidence (but might later)..but that's not a problem if they do.
