  • Change from joint to single account

Hi everyone, I need to get a new bank account, the one I have now is a joint account but when I change I just want it to be in my name (only my salary goes in there and I pay all the bills), does anyone know if I will have any problems doing this? If I apply for a single account and use a transfer service for the dd's etc, will they query it?

    Any advice/knowledge/experience gratefully received!

    Thank you

I have an account in my name only, just open a new account in your name I don't see why they need to question it.

do you want to change banks? If not who do you bank with as most let you have a sole account anyway, without credit searching you. I have 2 accounts with most banks (santander / natwest / barclays)

Hi Niddy, I would quite like to have a high street bank, been with IF for 12 years but it can be a pain posting chqs in etc and there seem to be some decent accounts around. Thinking Tesco or Halifax at the moment....

Looked at that one but thought it was only going to be useful if I have a Santander mortgage...which I won't have! Will look again though, thanks Niddy

Thanks NW, think I must've messed up the calculations, £30 per month seems like a lot!

the bank account doesn't include credit card stuff. £30 is almost impossible unless you pay £3000 in DD's a month. I do good at just shy of £11pm cash back and my DD's DO total £2000pm LOL
