....has a silver lining.
As many of you on here will know, not only have I been struggling with debt but I have also been unwell. Actually my debt crisis was caused by a car accident but I already had an underlying issue. Anyway I won't go into too much personal detail but suffice it to say my condition is incurable. It is not usually life threatening but it could be if it is not dealt with. My biggest concern is blindness which is a common outcome if the condition is left untreated.
That should make it easy but unfortunately as there is no cure you become a guinea pig and they try many drugs in the hope of finding a combo that works for you. Well I have had many needles stuck in my ...... but they don't seem to help. The inteferons have nasty side effects and I wouldn't wish them on anyone.
Today I was back in with my consultant because the latest drugs didn't work. They had a slight positive effect but the side effects were debilitating and I had to stop taking them. I was prescribed a new cocktail today and given "War and Peace" type instructions from the consultant on what combo to take, what I should not take, etc. I sat down and had to read every side effect, check no other medication I was taking was on the "do not mix" list and ensure I had no allergies could that be made worse. Thankfully I seemed to be okay and I started the course at around midday.
Sorry for the long story but for the first time in almost 25 years I am close to pain free! I am almost in a state of shock and delirium at the same time. My arms move without it feeling like someone has them in a vice stabbing them with a hot poker. I can turn my head without it feeling like someone is trying choke me and I can use my hands to open a jar without having to take a deep breath and gritting my teeth in anticipation of excruciating pain.
As I type this message there are tears of joy in my eyes, it is totally unreal. Yes, I have some pain but the difference is unbelievable. I just have to hope it continues to work. I feel like I am 21 again!
I know I cannot take them continuously so there will be times when I am confined to bed but I sure can live with that.
A huge thank you to everyone on here who has helped me since I joined, you have literally saved my life and my sanity.
Time to stop here as I am sure you get what I am trying to say.

P.S. The only negative is I cannot have any alcohol, not a single drop. However, I was never a big drinker and the odd cold one once or twice per month was my norm.
