  • Nationwide Upgrading Cash Accounts

From 1st December 2015 all Nationwide Card Cash customers will be upgraded to the new FlexBasic Current Account. The upgrade will be automatic and as part of the upgrade you'll get a new visa debit contactless debit card and as before, you'll be able to pay direct debits & standing orders.

The account is still restricted to non bankrupts and if you look after your account you'll likely be upgraded to full banking based on account conduct and regular automated reviews by the bank.

This is great news for people struggling to get mainstream banking.

    Nationwide say

From 1 December 2015, we won't offer our Cash Card account any more. This means we'll move our customers who hold Cash Card accounts to our brand new account, FlexBasic. If you're thinking of applying for a Cash Card account now, you still can - we'll simply move you to a FlexBasic account from 1 December.

we have also had this letter, which is rather funny as the account is joint with hubbys incomebeing paid into it (we later moved to Santander) they upgraded me, ie gave ME a debit card for the account, but have never sent OH a replacement card for it, the account is now empty so will be interesting to see what they send out to us.

They will issue a new card upon request UNLESS there is a fraud restriction / marker (ie no debit card / no upgrade).
