But Russell Hamblin-Boone, chief executive of the Consumer Finance Association (CFA), said that the council’s decision to block payday lending sites is “concerning”.

He added: “The council is effectively denying choice to local residents without fully understanding either the short-term lending industry or the way people are managing their finances in 2013.

If that was the case you would not have this:

      Payday lending complaints rocket 83%

Which just shows the CFA for what they are - a self serving bunch of buffoons led by one Hamblin-Boone.

I would suggest that HE is the one who doesn't fully understand the 'short-term lending industry'.

He CANNOT argue that consumers have a choice when anyone who has taken out a payday loan is immediately rejected by mainstream lenders as they claim this shows they were in 'financial distress'.

So simple fact Mr Hamblin-Boone is that PDL companies actually RESTRICT choice for those that fall for their glossy advertising without looking at the consequences.
"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."

The consumer is that sleeping giant.!!
