How long after the defaults drop off should I wait before attempting to apply for credit to try and repair the rating like an article on here says? Also why did some credit checks shows some defaults and not others and vice versa

As soon as they are gone, theres nothing stopping you repairing your credit. Whether you would get credit is another matter because no history can be just as bad as bad history, creditors like to see that you can repay debt, so a little HP finance, helps your credit score etc.

The reason why some credit checks show defaults and others dont, is because of the credit reference agencies, some creditors use 1 of them, others use another, when a creditor does a search, it depends on which CRA they use and what results they get.

pay day loans, same applies to them as every other credit, markers disappear 6 years from settlement, or default

Think you would have to have good reasons to get things changed.

Not living at a linked address is a good reason. If you have proof you lived somewhere else then IMO dispute it with the bank as the CRA's seem to always hide behind the bank says its ok. If th bank agree they will update the CRA's anyway.

However if you had PDL's and its a true and accurrate record of your credit usage good or bad then you havnt got any chance of getting them removed.

Would it have an adverse effect on my credit rating because it's a payday lender or is it seen as a usual loan?

no they'll stay as settled for 6 years - and they will hinder you as other lenders view them as a sign of desperation, sadly.

You will struggle to get a mortgage with PDL's showing on your credit file, that's a certainty!

Have you ever had a HBOS account or credit card attributed to LTSB?

Thing is if you've never had an account and never lived at the address they claim you would tell the CRA to fix the incorrect data and if they refuse you then complain to the ICO.

I did ask the cra to amend it but Lloyd's came back and said it was correct even though I've never dealt with Lloyd's or HBOS and in terms of the PDL it shows up on certain ones as closed accounts will it still have an effect then? Ah right wish I hadn't bothered then and thee a pain because as you extend them they set up as a new account

I have now also recieved a letter from red debt recovery saying to stop further action I could pay a quarter of what was owed....surely this means the debt is dead and buried now if their offering such a small fee to settle it?
