  • Save DLA

Right, there are a few here in receipt of DLA that will be affected for the worst when the new Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is introduced in replacement of DLA.

It goes to the Lords for the vote on whether to replace DLA with PIP this Tuesday. The lords has already dealt a big blow to the Commons last night in defeating 3 amendments to welfare reform for the disabled.

We must now go one step further and stop PIP from replacing DLA you no PIP and the medicals that go with it are not right.

Below is the newsletter just released by Benefits and Work please please read and do as they ask and email a crossbench Peer the email list of these Peers are in the newsletter.

There has been much media reporting of the wrongs the Government is doing with regards to the long term ill and disabled and this will increase over the coming week so now is the time to stand up and fight for what's right.

    Re: Save DLA

    Great thread Pompey.

In curiosity of the changes, my son he is currently awarded:
    High Rate Care
    Low Rate Mobility.

As he turned 16 last year, it was agree by my son to have me as his appointee until he is able to deal with these matters himself.

His renewal is a day before his 18th Birthday (next Jan 2013), so I will expect to receive his forms to review months prior to then.

I wonder how they go about giving medicals to the ones who suffer Autism?

In our case, my son has Aspergers Syndrome, Anxiety disorders, and suffers the main related conditions that affect people with this syndrome, as he is unable to cope with social interactions, communication, the list is endless.
This is where I come in as I have to deal with everyday and everynight issues with him, which includes personal care.

I know he is going to get absolutely worked up if called for a check up with their medical team.

So it will be interesting to know if they will use a specialised team who understands Autism?

Any chance you could check they DO have people who understand Aspergers Syndrome and can come out to your home address instead of causing your son Anxiety by having to go out, I'm sure if this is all explained to them prior to any assessment they could arrange something.
I used to be afraid of the post... Now I look forward to it - so I can stick it to the DCA's

No, ATOS just uses the same know-nothing numpties they use for everyone else.

Hence it would be as well for your son to be as stressed as possible before the "assessment", as the "health care professional" would have the utmost difficulty seeing any but the most obvious symptoms.
