  • Car Buying Scam

    Just to beware

DD was trying to sell her car recently and started to receive emails from a chap called James Hamilton who was interested
turns out this is a pretty well known scam and this chap is all over the internet.

started off with some baloney about being on a navy ship and buying it for his daughter, I smelled a great big greasy rat and it turned out to be a scam using paypal

so moral is don't respond to emails from James Hamilton when you are selling a car, don't give him your email address, and don't accept payment via paypal.

this guy is priceless, he kept him going, If found this one

          Re: Car Buying Scam

I know someone who almost got stitched selling a car via a BACS transaction?! Apparently the money hits the account and then is credited back to the sender - long enough to register on the account making the seller think they have been paid??? Makes you wonder how the trust relationship with bank accounts work.
When Gold isn't enough, there is SA Gold! New to the forum and find the UE route a bit scary? Take a look at my diary here and judge for yourself. I am now saving the money each month that was making little difference to the balance and not a bit of difference to my credit file as a result of finding AAD.
