  • IPhone Vodafone Insurance

Now this is a thread on behalf of my girlfriend I've been meaning to ask about.

She has been on contract with Vodafone and recently uprgaded got herself a new iPhone and it seemed its always been insured but Vodafone have said when she got the upgrade that there was no insurance now.

She had the phone on a night out and its either been lost or stolen, she's phoned up and been told this and that, been passed around and her mum is still paying for the contract but she should have an iPhone.

To me it seems they made the mistake not mentioning or saying it was taken off or cancelled when she got the iPhone or upgraded.

They never seem to be helpful over the phones, as we know its all telesales and sales people so perhaps someone knows a better way we could go about this?

I'm not sure on Vodaphone but with o2 and orange you have to pay extra for insurance ( in my view a real rip off at the rates charged), does her bill show a payment??

I thought nearly all providers offered insurance as an option......I know some offer so many months for free if you buy...virgin did the same with me I cancelled after the 1st month and claimed on my house insurance when an accident occured...damn sight cheaper too

Unless you either have something in writing OR calls were recorded about the insurance it's gonna be pretty difficult to fight

A long time ago, Orange offered 1 year insurance free as standard with all upgrades, they sneakly added it in small print to their booklet, which unless you quoted, they wouldnt give you the time or day.

Now though they have stopped this, its an optional extra you must ask for, dont think they have to offer it.

The question is, was you paying for insurance prior to the upgrade, and are they saying it was cancelled once you took your upgrade?

To me that seems abit unfair, they should have at least asked if you wanted it to continue over to your new upgrade, you shouldnt have to ask every time to continue to pay for something that was previously agreed.

So if you could confirm that the insurance was being paid right up to the point you took your upgrade, we could try a little letter to the CEO of Vodaphone.

On vodafone you also pay extra for insurance as a monthly fee, it would show up on the phone bill if it was there.

My girlfriend said: my insurance had been canceled on my old phone but when took out the upgrade I was told by Vodafone store manager and assistant manager that because it was a new phone on an upgraded contract that it would be fine, they never told me that it was cancelled and due to being on holiday the phone bill was much higher so was not able to tell that the insurance was took off by the price also the Internet was down so when called Vodafone they said everything is as it should be just the extra is from calls abroad.

Sounds like the insurance claim to have taken it off for some reason or just trying to get out of it.

Looking at vodafones contract terms an conditions though it seems although it barely covers you unless ive not understood it properly Terms and conditions - Vodafone Cover Me phone insurance Vodafone

            Thanks guys

            What do you guys think?

Sounds to me that the guys in the vodaphone shop screwed up, if I was her I would go into the shop explained what happen and get them to sort it.( If they wont sort it, make a real fuss in the shop, best on a saturday)

As for the policy , it fairly crappy but it's about par for the course for this sort of thing.

HAve you thought about claims on her contents insurance??
