Good Morning all, If you have been wondering where I have been this last 48 hours imagine me with a paintbrush in one hand and a Grass Rake stuck up me bum

If I'm not working I'm sleeping and vice versa.

Got Stepson No3 here now as well as DD and the two wee ones. As one bed room is still out of action the living room is like a flop house.

Lady H is doing my head in. After being 100% Biatch for the last week and a half she has gone all sweetness and light, even offered to let me have an extra day off (paid ) to go and see my Mum this weekend.

Got to go now and get some sleep, I want to be up by 4 to hang the last 3 rolls of wallpaper. Then its only the gloss work and fit the new carpet on Saturday.

Next week when the family has gone home the silence will be deafening. Cant wait

      Regards all, Handy

        Either:

        - the old girl has gone soft or;
        - Lady H is suffering from dementia and has forgotten that she likes to treat you like shyte or;
        - she is getting on the right side of you because she wants you to dress up in a butler outfit and serve drinks on Christmas day!

Good luck with the decorating and mind the skirting when you fit that new carpet....

Wallpapering finished, the best quality paper I have ever hung and it wasn't expensive, or at least not in B&Q's sale.

The Dormer Window was a sod to do but it is looking good.
I should have collected the carpet tonight but the store shuts at 6 on Fridays.

The reason it's taken so long is I have had to wait for the Grandkids to go to bed each night. I caught GS (4) in the room the other day, Paint roller in one hand and my plasterboard knife in the other .

Still nice Lady Hooray today. Just waiting for a change in the wind and then we will be back to normal.

She has thrown a dinner party this evening. Note the time of this post. So far only 2 of the 12 guests have left (and it started at 8). Believe me they won't be sober. It's amazing one rule for one and one rule for another.

            I think I'm just tired....

These early am starts (like 6.30am) are not good for me on my pills and whereas at one time I'd have had a pm nap - not any more

Am cream crackered and it's not even 6pm :

Any ideas how to keep me awake till 9pm handy?

Nap's are wonderful things and a warm clean bed and a big thick blanket

Maybe you should invest in one Handy

Phew what a weekend. It was a slow drive North through heavy rain as we were following Stepson Jon the Cons 20 year old car because it has no petrol gauge and kept breaking down (no breakdown cover either). I lost my rag with him at one point because he was down to 15 mph in the slow lane with only 50 yard visibility, and there was me with the grandkids strapped into the back seats of my car just waiting to be shunted from the rear.

At one point after drying the electrics (again) he indicated once and pulled straight of the hard shoulder into lane 1 nearly causing a multiple crash.

He did all of this without even losing the ash off the spliff he was smoking (probably his 5th of the morning) and all this after puking and rattling for an hour before we set off as he was going cold turkey and the Veterinary Metacalm he thought would act like Oromorph had reacted with his Naltraxone.

He's stuck up in Yorkshire now until his next Giro as we wouldn't loan (lend) him the cash to get back down here.

He has told his mum he would like to spend Christmas with us and bring his daughter back with him. Last time he took her to Cornwall and Handy had to Taxi her from Penzance to South Yorks as he had had his car taken away (no Tax, Test or Insurance).

Families who needs them when their like mine

On top of this I have a horrible Chest infection and a flare up of Asthma. It looks like Lady Hooray has been having a root round the workshop while I have been away (total of about 38 hours) so there is bound to be a complaint about leaving it untidy or something I should have done before going.

So regards for now, I'm off to get some more cough mixture before the tree surgeons arrive as we are pruning the old Orchard this morning.

                    Handy.

You should save the timber and coat the cut ends with paraffin wax; when apple wood is seasoned, it is a lovely, fine-grained hardwood to turn.

It also make good burning wood the aroma (if I could only just smell it) is wonderful.

I have a candelabra made from a block of Apple Wood and Yew.
Your right it makes a fine wood to work with, unfortunately I think that the thickest pieces we are taking of will only be around 4 inches.

Anyway Coffee break over. Back out in the sleet to try and stand up a eucalyptus tree that has fallen over.

SC, I am coughing that much I couldn't even manage my e ciggy.

                          Back later, Handy

Well the cold (man flu) still lingers on. It's a good job I can type loudly as I have now lost my voice. My Dogglies like this as they can get away with murder while out on a walk.

I caught up on a lot of lost sleep last night, so tonight it's back to the decorating. Only some snagging to do and things like curtains to hang.

Lady H is still in a good mood. I expected grief over something. Even when it took me all day to fix the inside lift. I had cocked up the settings on a safety relay while I was servicing it and had to adjust the lot.

The inside lift was put in for the old Lord when he got too infirm to make it up the stairs, these days it's used to get others who are too infirm or pished to their rooms.

Any way if she had said anything I would have reminded her that the Lift Company charges £230.00 per call out plus parts and labour and at that rate I could spend 3 days on it and she would still have saved money.

Right off to swing a paintbrush. See you all later

That should still give at least 2.5 inches of usable heartwood.

I've never tried turning that, but I'd imagine it would be quite bland and pale, not unlike holly.
